Title: A good weekend
Post by: alfsauve on July 15, 2012, 09:58:10 PM
Besides celebrating that bloody coup in France, umpteen years ago, I celebrated my 64th birthday Saturday.

Friday night I went to the last of the summer Glock Indoor League, and won.   "A" class by the way is the top third of the shooters.  (They also give a plaque for top of the middle third, "B" and the lower third "C".)   What pushed me over even one of the 500 shooters was the incredible stroke last month when we did 40 round one handed.   (20 strong and 20 week)   For some reason I was right on and scored 494.

Saturday I shot in an outdoor Glock Match at River Bend Gun Club (Dawsonville, GA).  Of course won't know the outcome for several weeks.   Probably not great.  I'll run the numbers on my score sheets and compare them with other matches to get an idea of how I might place.  It was a beautiful day.    When I went to shoot plates, the RO asked if I had 11 rounds in my magazine.  I gave him a smile and said, "but there are only 6 plates."   He snorted something about famous last words.  Okay so, I used a few more than 6 rounds, but I got all 6 every time.  One string as short as 4.29.    Not world class, or steel challenge level, but okay for an amateur shooting only my third & fourth time through plates.

Congrats and happy birthday Alf!
Nothing like the fun of a competition to help you celebrate, and to do well to top it off is great.

Here's my scores from Saturday compared with my first ever outdoor Glock.  I improved, which is good news, but I've got a lot of room for better scores.

Satuday   verses   Last Match-Last Year ("the national")

Amateur Civilian Division

82.93  /  95.55

Possible placement based on the National scores  ~ 15th

Competitive Division

118.75  /  184.22   (I shoot Comp first as a practice round for each stage)

Possible placement ~100th

Preliminary scores from River Bend have been posted.

I am 15th in Amateur Civilian out of 230 entries.  Plus i'm top Senior, though one Super Senior is ahead of me.

Only 79th in competition division but then that's my warm-up division.

I was so bummed being knocked out of high senior by two points and that the guy above me got $75 high senior PLUS $50 in the random that I neglected to look at the "competition" division.

I was only 79th in that entry but I won 2 years membership renewal for that entry via the random drawing.

I discovered it yesterday when the new membership card arrived.
