I was cruising the Internet auto parts sites looking for a decent oiler for firearms, since the supposed "quality" Dewey oiler I bought some time back never did work right. I couldn't get any oil out of the damn thing.
I found this one at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

This is a really nice unit. It's all lathe turned Aluminum with O-Ring seals at both ends to prevent any leakage. It comes empty, so you can add the lubricant of your choice. The problem with a lot of these type of units, is if you use a high viscosity lubricant in them, they won't flow because the orifices in them are just too small. I filled this one with 20W-50 Mobil 1 and it works flawlessly.
The needle is protected by a threaded, lathe turned Aluminum cap that seals with an O-Ring. The top section is nicely knurled and has a spring loaded tip that depresses like a ball point pen. This is the end it fills from, and it also seals with an O-Ring as well. After you fill it, when you press on the tip and release it, it will dispense exactly one drop. If you press and hold the tip it will dispense a drop every few seconds until you release the tip.
This thing is the cats ass for lubing AR-15, 1911's, and AK's. It allows you to get the lube right where you want it. The needle is about 2 1/2" long so you can get it anywhere in the receiver, and put the lube right where you want it.
I've gone through several of these things over the years, never really finding a good one. As I mentioned, I purchased a Dewey oil bottle a few years back because Dewey normally makes quality products. But I just never could get it to work right. The one's I found that did work OK, leaked like a sieve, or else you couldn't refill them. This one is well made, simple, and works like a champ and doesn't leak a drop. It's got a pocket clip like a ball point so you can keep it in your shirt pocket while at the range, and you'll always have lube with you.

Don't laugh. One time I bought one of those Turkey marinade syringes in an attempt to make a precision oiler out of it....What a mess! Don't ever try it!

You mean you are supposed to oil the trigger group in an AR?
-
another great option ( but is a pita to find these days) is a waffle bottum oil can made for a sowing machine. They are wonderfull and will pump anything.

You're supposed to put a drop of oil at the ends of the pins and safety.

Oh, I definitely know about the mess.......... ;D
(I was mainly pokin' fun at Solus about the Glock model)
I have tried different things..... the medical-type syringes worked OK, as long as the oil weight was right for the needle bore..... but eventually it would blow by the piston and get everywhere.
I will definitely go get one of these at O'Reilly's..... it looks like it is just the ticket.
Also, was it in the lubricant section? The online parts finder says it is an in-store stock item, but none of the employees at our local store can ever find what I need ...... and I always end up having to find it for them.

No. It was on a J-Hook with a lot of other do dads, several isles from the oils and greases. If you go, print out a copy of it from their website. That way you'll have all of the information on it, so they can find it on their computer and know where it is, along with how many they've got in stock at that particular store. I hate to treat people like they're stupid, but with some of these minimum wage employees at these kind of places, you really have to overload them with information to find what you are looking for.

They love me at my regular parts place (locally owned).......
I just walk in with a pick-list of part numbers and hand it over. It saves them a step and gets me done faster..... they are good guys, so I don't mind. I tried that at a couple of the chain stores (to save time on standard maint parts) like O'Reilly's and AutoZone and I got blank stares.

I went into the local mower place here a few months ago with a sketch of a bushing I needed to adapt the blade I'd bought. My BIL had misplaced it some time back. The peach fuzzed kid looked at me kinda funny and hollered for some help. This little old curmudgeon came out of the back, looked at my sketch, turned around and grabbed a part off the shelf, took my 10 bucks and left!
The kid just stood there...

Old conversation but I have to ask..
Have any of you ever tried this stuff?
It even comes in the type of applicator you're looking for..
http://www.gunbutter.com/
I swear by the stuff. Works hot or cold and doesn't attract dust..
And a little goes a long way..

For a moment I had that confused with bore butter which is compeletly different.

I tend to stay away from any lubricant that has the word GUN on it, for the same reason I do anything that has TACTICAL on it. It's the same as most everything else like it, it just costs more.
