Title: Glock Magazines
Post by: Paraguy on August 26, 2012, 06:47:03 PM
Over time, I am finding that the slide on my Glock does not stay open after firing the last round.  The Ranger told me it is the magazines, which seems to make sense since a new mag fixes the problem.  Is there a way to adjust or fix these not so old magazines to fix this problem rather than buying new magazines?  I wish Wilson Combat made Glock magazines.

have you tried taking them apart and cleaning them?   some times there can be a build up of gunk in a mag that can cuase a issue.( speaking generally)

The part of the magazine that raises the hold open lever is the left most part of the follower at the front left of the magazine, as viewed from behind.  It is not the highest point but the "step" at the left front.  There is a TAB on the lever that fits that step.  The TAB is probably ok since it works with a new mag.

Compare it to a new one to check for wear.

Replacing the follower might do the trick.

(Sorry to be a name dropper)   ;D ;D

Thank you for the advice, I will let the forum know if anything helps.  I owuld hate to get rid of the 22 rd .40 magazine, it was expensive and cuts down on the relaods at the range.  And it looks cool.

Definitely clean and disassemble the the mags. I had the same problem with a G-17. I had a "Gibbs head slap" moment when I bitched about it on the range. The RSO asked me when was the last time I cleaned my mags. My answer was "DOH!". Problem solved. Good luck.
