Has any body used these in a .308win? I want use them to shoot deer out to 350-400yards :)or are the matchkings better bullets?

I had good luck on paper with the 180 grain, I really saw no differance between them and 200 gr Match Kings.

The Gameking is an awesome bullet,, in .308, the 165 mimicks the 168 match king.. regardless.. of weight, the game king performs very well.

The SMK has never been touted as a great game bullet by the company, although there are people that use them.
On deer it probably wouldn't make much difference either way. They're not that hard to put down.

I have had excellent results with the 140 grain Game King, 1910 I think, in my 7x57 on deer. It is my prime deer bullet.

Sierra GameKing's are deadly on deer. 165 Gr. out of a 7mm Mag has droped many 200lbs+ deer right in there tracks at 200yds. GameKings seems to hold accuracy really well out to 300-400yds. Other ..newer bonded type bullets now ..retain more weight after impact.. but for accuracy and power on deer.. I think GameKings are hard to beat. Something like a .308 ..especially at that range should have so much knock down ..that most any bullet will work as long as the shot is accurate.

I like the 150 grain Gameking in the 30-06. I have shot numerous deer with it and it worked great. Accuracy was good too. Should be just as good in the 308.

I use the 125 SP (gameking) in a .308 scout rifle built on a M70 stainless short action. I load it up to 3000 fps with varget or 4895. So far no deer has stood up long enough to evaluate whether a heavier bullet would have made a difference. Every bullet has passed clean through with plenty of expansion on the way out. I tried a bunch of the top rated match and plastic tip bullets, and in this rifle the 125 shoots as well or better than any of them, with the advantage of a little flatter trajectory. I haven't tested it past 400 yards, but out to there it does great. I used a conventional target scope for the long range tests.
I wouldn't choose any true match bullet -155/168/175/190 HPBTM for hunting game. They will do some damage if they tumble, but aren't designed to open and perform like a hunting bullet. Yes, the snipers use these, but they are working under a whole different set of requirements.

You should not use Match King bullets for hunting. From the Sierra web site;

A: No, it's not recommended. The MatchKing bullets are designed for pinpoint accuracy; with no consideration given to what might happen after impact. If the bullet has arrived on target accurately, its job is done at that point. Hunting bullets must perform in a certain manner after impact. Penetrating ability, expansion characteristics, and even profile must be considered when designing a hunting bullet. Use MatchKings for matches, and game bullets for hunting.
GameKing bullets mirror the MatchKing loads in like bullet weight in both of my rifles. You may find your rifle will do the same. Either way MatchKing bullets are less than ideal for hunting.
