Title: Took a sporting clays lesson yesterday...my mind was blown
Post by: Tyler Durden on September 10, 2012, 12:10:48 PM
Forget the bead, forget the lead, forget the rib.

Just mentally and visually focus on the clay.

Now, snatch pebble from my hand grasshopper.

Point and shoot!  That is all it is - Point and shoot.

That is why you extend your index finger on the forestock when wing shooting.

Yep!

When you overthink it, you'll miss.

When shooting clays with a premounted gun I look at the beads to make sure they are lined up right.
After that marry yourself to the target never giving the gun a second thought (or glance).

When you overthink it, you'll miss.

Every time!

The hard part is when you're clean through the round and reach in to grab a shell and realize you only have 2 left.
That's when focus on the shot, not the total outcome, becomes really important.  ;)

I've always been so much better when I just let the basics take over!  Same thing with golf.  As soon as the brain takes over, you're done!

Keep practicing, it's pure fun!
