I ran across this article from back in 2009 about an interpretation of potential lessons police officers can learn from the movie Unforgiven. I agree with some of what the author says, and it should apply to anyone who carries a gun for protection and not just cops.
Is the movie a training film? Absolutely not..... it is entertainment..... but we can find lessons in odd places from time to time.

The high-point topics include:
-Marksmanship and speed are not as important as keeping your head
-Just because they go down doesn’t mean they are dead
-Killing a person is much harder than it looks
-Handguns are not as effective as shoulder weapons
-Equipment fails
-Don’t fight with fair odds
-Violence is brutal

I found wisdom in the movie " The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" when Tuco told the man "If you're going to shoot, shoot, don't talk".

If you listen close around :28 you hear Tuco cock his pistol ;D

My favorite scene in the movie. ;D

My mother taught me this one a long time ago..

One other thing I learned from "Unforgiven"......decorating the front of your saloon with the body of one of Clint's friends is a very bad idea. ;D

Pick the time a place for a fight if you can. Sun Tzu would agree as he stated it 2400 years ago.
