Title: Important Read..Should be obvious to the well informed
Post by: graywolf on September 29, 2012, 09:41:17 PM
Go to www.aim.org. The article iis "Media have become the enemy of the American People" by Pat Caddell.  Remember when real jounalists like Walter Cronkite, Eric Severied, John Chandellor, Chet Huntley and David Brinkley actually reported the news?  And they asked the tough questions at press conferences like Mike Wallace and Dan Rather?  They were the government watchdogs. Politicos feared them.  No more!  Now there in bed with each other.  The article is too long to be posted here.  Read it, get angry over it and most important of all, pass it on. Or don't!

Walter Cronkite, Eric Severied, et al were just as liberal/progressive as the big news media figures are now. The public just didn't have anything to compare their reports with then. Remember the love fest for the Kennedy family. JFK didn't look good for reelection, so we got a neverending story about the "young" president and his happy family. Then he got killed and we got Johnson with a public in sympathy mode for The Great Society, and a deeper involvement in Vietnam. It used to be that you got hired as a reporter because you had life experience, and knew how to get the "story". Now you get hired because your socialist professor writes a glowing recommendation for you and how you want to "change the world".

Yes you are spot on. BUT...they sure look like hard core conservatives by today's standards. Today's press corp is afraid to challenge the pencil necked Press Secretairies like Carney and Gibbs because they will never be called on again or never have access to presidential interveiws.  The job of a free press is to challenge and hold public officials feet to the fire.  Now they're both parasitical.  They feed off each other. And then there's the citizenry.  They care more about their iphones and cable bills. They think that the Daily Show and Bill Maher are news outlets.

Considering that the likes of Cronkite and Winchell, were in fact liberal apologists for communists, and helped wrongfully destroy Joe McCarthy the fact that a comparison to modern news figures makes them look good is down right frightening.
Goebbels would have an orgasm.

I wrote a paper in high school about how Cronkite was part of the reason the news is more opinion based than factual. His statement that the "war" in Vietnam was un-winnable was the first in a long line of opinions now daily uttered by "journalist" everywhere.

The media is what it is because people still watch it. In 20 or 30 years when the last of the boomers are gone nobody is going to watch the news, seeking instead the internet where questionable items can be researched and discussed. The backlash is that much of that news will be what "snooky" is wearing and videos of her off spring swearing.

It's a large part of why formerly profitable newspapers have been dying for the last 40 years.
Saw an article a while back that the NYT loses $2 Billion per year .
The only reason people buy them nowadays are the sports section and the crossword puzzle, the rest of it is BS.

I'd guess that the National Enquirer gets it right more often than the NY Times!

As for JFK, it's fairly well known that he HATED liberals, and was far more comfortable hanging out with conservatives.  In fact, he and Richard Nixon were good friends prior to the 1960 Presidential elections.

JFK would have no desire to be allowed in the Democrat party of today.

Then,
"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask instead what can I do for my country."
Now
Ask not what you can do for your country, ask only what's in it for me.
Then
"We will support any friend and oppose any foe"
Now
We will appease any foe and f*ck all our friends.
