Title: Single Action Revolver with a Swing Out Cylinder....
Post by: Jerry R Howell on April 07, 2007, 08:04:14 PM
I read in an old ANNUAL back in the middle 80's of an old gunmaker who made a pistol on the SAA frame and fitted a S&W cylinder on it.  This was way back in the 20s.  He was known for his singleshot rifles and I think he was from Montana.

Does anyone have any info of the gunsmith and his rifles and hybrid revolver?  Thanks in advance.

You may be talking about the Sedgley revolvers.  RF Sedgley made a lift out cylinder that is removed by pulling the extractor forward and pulling the cylinder out through the loading gate.  Hamilton Bowen makes a modern replica of the gun, and it is featured on page 179 of his outstanding book, The Custom Revolver.
