my guess is he must have had an insurance policy tucked away... If he got shanked in the prison yard and dies then, all these letters or emails get sent to the embassies he had previously broken into.

I am wondering if this will get turned into a book or movie deal later on.

That's what Richard Marcinko did. After he formed SEAL Team 6 and RED Cell the Navy spent $60 million trying to prove he did something wrong. After he retired the DOJ spent millions more and finally put him in jail for 1 year.
They completely ignored the fact that if he wanted to steal , covert ops are cash intensive and you don't get reciepts, he could have stolen millions.
Instead he writes his "Rogue Warrior" series and makes his own millions.
