Title: Print Screen And Not Entire Scroll ??
Post by: billt on October 17, 2012, 11:41:16 AM
OK you computer guys, I've got another question. Is there a way you can print out just what's on the screen, and not the entire scroll of a web page? For example if you go to the United Nations Ammo website, along with Classic Arms is one long scroll that would take dozens of pages to print. The same would apply to a long page of a forum thread with many replies.

http://www.classicfirearms.com/

Let's say I scrolled down to just the item I wanted. Is there a way to print just what is on the screen at that point, and not the entire scroll? I tried the "Print Screen" key on the keyboard, but that didn't do anything.

Don't know about your printer's options, but on mine I just went and tried it...... When on the web page, click "ctrl + P" to print. On mine it broke it down into individual pages to print. When the options box opens for the printer, select "print page" instead of "all"........ then put what page you want to print in the box.

One other thing I have done is highlight what I want to print, right click and copy, then paste it into a Word document and then print that.

If I click on "File", then click on "Print" I get the same thing, except I don't know which number page I would need to print to get what.

Ah.... mine actually shows a display of what the printed pages would look like in a column to the right of the pop-up box (sort of reminds me of looking at a PDF file, in appearance). It also has a black box next to each one showing the page number for that corresponding page. I guess you could manually count down the pages, but that would be a pain.
Best bet may be to copy/paste to a word document and then print.

The problem with copy and paste is it doesn't work for photographs, only words.

Yeah..... it depends on how it is formatted on the web page.
Sometimes I can copy/paste photos along with print and sometimes it won't let me. Then I have to select the photo alone and either try to copy/paste and if it still won't let me, I have to do a "save as" a separate file. Really a pain to do.

If you press the "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen" key on the keyboard it takes a screen capture of what's on the monitor and puts it on the clipboard.  You can then paste it into a document or image program and print it.

screen shot the paste into paint.  That will leave it as a bit map.  Those are eazy to convert to just about anything.

Open Word (or Paint) and paste (Ctrl+V).

You can open an word document and hit Ctrl V and it should paste from the clipboard.
