Some very funny lines in here...
-
I watched the whole thing last night...just stumbled on it. I have to say for all his faults, Romney is growing on me. He shows poise and a quick wit under duress, and he was pretty funny at times.
On the press..."I saw some reporting on this event from tomorrow's press...NY Times headlines....Obama embraced by Catholics, Romney dines with rich people".
"....and IN the spirit of Big Bird, President Obama's remarks are being brought to you tonight by the letter O and the number 16 trillion".
NICE.

I actually laughed out loud a few times watching it, but can some one explain to me what the "Al Smith Dinner" is all about ?
I know Al Smith was a NY politician back in the 30's IIRC.

He was Governor of New York, and the first serious Catholic to run for president (he lost to Hoover). He was also a Democrat, and ran on an anti-prohibition platform. Still telling me you'd never vote for a Dem? ;D
-
More on the Al Smith Dinner: It's an event to raise money for Catholic charities, hence the presence of His Eminence, Cardinal Dolan, who sat between BHO and Mitt. In recent years it has become a must stop for presidential candidates to show off their humorous side and solicit the Catholic vote. Politics makes strange bedfellows: BHO and Catholics!

I don't drink, so no, I'd never vote for a dem.

Aww c'mon Tom. Its the party of Rum, Romanism and Rebellion. What's not to love?
-
Rum makes me puke, it's not "Romanism", it's a bunch of Francophiles, and rebellion based on flawed logic is stupid.

Review your history notes, then respond. Rum is for being "wets" during prohibition, Romanism is for accepting the Irish and Italians, and Rebellion is because the Dem party base was in the South during the Civil War.

So, they opposed morality, favored changing the primarily English national demographic with poverty stricken immigrants who violently opposed capitalism, and fought a war to keep blacks subjugated.
Nice people.

It sounds like Tom and FQ should have a starring role at the next roast.....There's some funny stuff when you two get going also... ;D

All a matter of perspective.
FQ bases his arguments on theory and a lifetime in class rooms.
I base mine on a lifetime in the real world watching what actually works.
Remember, according to highly technical engineering theories involving mass, and weight to lift ratios it is proven that it is impossible for a bumble bee to fly.\
So much for theories.

Ignorant bumble bees...don't they know anything?
-
Silly people..... It's because the bumblebees never studied physics....... Sheesh..... ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

The don't really fly! The swim through the air....it's still a fluid after all!

Just for you Timothy, an old Navy quote from a Master Chief. "There are more planes in the ocean then there are submarines in the air".

FQ finally posted something that I can not find a single flaw in.
Not only that, but it's all spelled right ! :o
ALL RIGHT , WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DID YOU DO WITH FQ ?

He missed some punctuation... :D

Its all a fulid anyways. Fwiw just becuase something was tested, does not mean they were right. infact most experaments that drasicly change our view on the world were becuase they did not find what they were looking for.
-
It was dis-proven. They determined with the advent of high speed cameras that bees and other buggy things flap their wings from front to back rather than up and down like a birdy! Kinda like a dyslexic helicopter... only took them about 70 years though...
-
Helicopters don't fly either.
They beat the air into submission. ;D

Exactly right Mr. Bogan as does the buggy things. If humans had a bit more arm flab and could flap our limbs as 230 times/second I'd bet we might could launch too but probably more like a chicken...
;D
I'm imagining Celebrity Fat Camp and the Bob Evans Chicken Flying contest! (since been forced to cancel by PETA)
