Title: Massachusetts Police Get Black Uniforms to Instill Sense of 'Fear'
Post by: Pathfinder on April 24, 2008, 06:36:29 PM
Read this story, in light of the post called "Crime is terrorism says top cop" at http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=2079.0;topicseen (http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=2079.0;topicseen) and we are beginning to be shown by the gummint just how far we have slid down the slippery slope. >:(

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —  Springfield's men in black are returning.

The city's new police commissioner, William Fitchet, says members of the department's Street Crime Unit will again don black, military-style uniforms as part of his strategy to deal with youth violence.

Fitchet's predecessor, Edward Flynn, had ditched the black attire as part of an effort to soften the image of the unit. Flynn left Springfield in January to become the police chief in Milwaukee.

Sgt. John Delaney told a city council hearing Wednesday that the stark uniforms send a message to criminals that officers are serious about making arrests.

Delaney said a sense of "fear" has been missing for the past few years.

Great.  Let's just get rid of bashing doors down and bulldoze everything.  Problem is....it's gonna be used against the ones that really can hurt the government...the people who produce and pay the taxes and have something to lose.  In the end it won't be the criminals and slugs suffering on this one.  It'll take a few years...but we'll see it.  Oh wait, we've already seen it...silly me.

If they don't already... maybe they will carry Glocks.."those evil black polymer guns", to go along with their uniforms. That should scare the crap out of someone.  ::)

They do in Detroit and Glocks scare no one. The bad guys still shoot at you. And by the way even if you wear black uniforms.

Golly gee - it was a lot easier in the old days when the crooks WERE afraid of cops.

It's not the uniforms or the military hardware that they feared.

It was that the bastards knew that if they were violent and dangerous, the only "less lethal force" utilized on them was a hunk of oak to the knee or hip, rather than the kidney or the skull.
