Title: Pistol re-finishing
Post by: fatbaldguy on November 03, 2012, 09:11:19 PM
Has anyone here used this service?

http://www.mahovskysmetalife.com/index.htm

I had planned on having the CZ re-blued, but I saw the metalife finish and am intrigued.  The next one will be re-blued, or maybe nickeled.  The one after that the other.  These are sweet shooting little pistols

The problem with Nickle that you don't have with this Metalife or bluing is that it goes onto the metal, thickness will depend mostly on the skill of the one applying it, but it does have thickness and even the thinnest coat could cause problems with a particularly tight dimension, pins may not fit back into the holes they came out of etc.

I've had Robar's NP3 finish put on a couple of autos and recommend them VERY highly.

The reason I personally stay away from nickel is the warning of some cleaning solvents damaging it.

NP3 is nickel based. Nickel and Teflon.
