[Giving thought to what gun sales will be like this weekend and where gun prices are headed.]
Recently papabear was look for 3" S&Ws and I commented on how over priced they were.
They are not "common" but I don't think they're that rare. I've seen them for sale under $750, which is still high to me.
But this one tops the cake. A Model 66-3 with 3" barrel. $2,750.

Nothing special, other than the 3" barrel. He does have the box and papers and it appears low mileage, but still.
For that money, I could buy a 4" one ($600), a separate 3" barrel ($250) and have a gun smith swap barrels (~$150 worst case). Sell the 4" barrel (-$100) and still come in less than half of that price. There's another one on the same auction site for on $995.
Me I'll suffer with the extra 1" of barrel length. For $550 I can get the 66- (no dash) original model, with pinned barrel and recessed chambers.

I was at the gun store today, model 63 in .22 used was $569, six shot variation with a steel barrel. No idea of when the new model arrives with a capacity of 8 shots, but I have seen prices in other stores in the high $680-$780. Being a Saturday the store was packed.
The one in the store had recessed chambers.
I hate having to shoot rim-fire revolvers. Granted the ammo is relatively cheap compared with a 38. It's just darn hard to fire D/A and be accurate as the trigger is so heavy. Pistols are great. I can put a hole where I want to 90% of the time. But I have to have some one rack the slide, and clear any jams. So those are out.
By the way, I was going to thank you for the tip at gun broker. But some one has been out bidding me, was it you? :)
So, I guess that I'll have to either bid more, or go to a different caliber. Great!
Guns prices are nuts, especially for hand guns now.

Nope. Wasnt me. ( i pretty much use the same name on all forums). I don't need another .22. Right now I'm primarily looking at 7x57 rifles.
There's a few decent prices still out there. Just keep looking.

Just came back from the big gunshow in Tulsa. I divested some handguns and yes, the price is good right now.

I was looking thru my current Dillon catalog. Love the pictures ;D. Anyway, they have a new item to help rack the slide for under $20.00. I have trouble myself (bad thumbs) but can still safely do it for now. This item will most like be on my want list.

Can you rack the slide with 1 hand using the new gadget from Dillon's?
