Hey all!
Marshal and I are in the process of selecting the SHOOTING GALLERY Guns of he Year for 2012, and we'd like your input. SG will pick and reward the Handgun, Rifle, Shotgun & AR Platform Gun of the Year at the 2013 SHOT Show.
Your thoughts?
Think hard, because you might win a ride to SHOT!

Yep, that's about right...apart from that cute little iHeizer in white and the takedown 10/22 I haven't see anything new either...
-
I'll bite.
Handgun: Springfield XD-S - Taking the mini to the next level.
Rifle: Ruger American - Affordable tack driver.
Shotgun: Mossberg Flex system - Why isn't everyone doing this?
AR: Sig 716 - .30 caliber goodness.
Not one mention of zombies...Damn!
-
Hey MB, I know they're not a sponsor, but the SA XDs is a really nifty little 45. It's not a new concept, but I think it's a mini 45 that actually works and is a manageable shooter.
-
Colt 380 Mustang.
-
Take what Bic said and put it with what BAC said and that'd be what I'd say. ;D
XDs .45acp
Ruger takedown 10/22
Mossberg Flex
Any .30 cal AR
-
Handgun: S&W Shield
Rifle: Mossberg MVP Predator
Shotgun: Mossberg Flex
AR: AAC upper in 300AAC Blackout
-
I really think the Mossberg Flex deserves shotgun of the year. While I love my 870s and am looking at getting a third. It'd be handier to have a Flex that I could take between a Turkey and SD shotgun in a mater of seconds.

Here I go.....
Sig 938
Ruger 10/22 takedown
Mossy Flex system
Ruger American

Better get my votes in here:
Pistol: XD-S
Revolver: S&W Governor
Bolt Rifle: Ruger American
Shotgun: Mossberg Flex
AR: Rock River Arms Fred Eichler
-
Smith & Wesson E Series 1911s
Les Baer .308
Chiappa Rhino
-
Handgun: Colt CQBP (Close Quarter Battle Pistol). Colt is back with this bad-ass 1911. If it's good enough for our Marines to select it, it's good enough for me.
Rifle: At first, it was a toss-up between the Ruger 10/22 Takedown and T/C Dimension for their technical innovation. But in the end, I'm going with the Savage Lady Hunter just because it's marketing innovation. It's a rifle that's not catering to an untapped market. It's building one from the ground up. Kudos to Savage for that.
Shotgun: It's too easy to pick the Mossberg Flex system, so I'm going with the Chiappa 1887 T-Model. No other reason but it's über-cool, as Arnold would say. Sometimes you just need some fun over function.
AR Platform: The "boring" S&W M&P 15 Sport. Only because it's a ton of gun for the money, and it's getting more people into ARs than anything else. That's a good thing. I know it was introduced in late 2011, not 2012. Big deal.

S&W SHIELD
Ruger Gunsight Rifle
Kel Tec Shotgun
-
I mentioned it in another thread but I'll say it here as well.
Gun of the year = Ruger 10-22 takedown.
Close behind the M&P Shield and the Sig 938. Two super cool carry guns for the concealed demands.
I agree with the Keltec KSG but isn't it actually from 2010 or 2011? Might as well be new considering how hard they are to find in stock. Been on my short must have list for a while but when I do see one available I've spent the discretionary cash on other guns or more ammo.

Ok second try ;D
Pistol: Colt Mustang 380 - A classic reborn
Rifle: Ruger 10/22 Takedown - More buzz on this than a bee hive
Shotgun: Stoeger Double Defense over/under - Great for home defense and making skeet snobs weep in their Sherry
AR Platform: 300 Blackout system from Daniel Defense
-
The Mighty Mo Cannon!
Oh! Wait, that was 1963...
;D
-
I had one of those, wish I still had it.

I had one of those, wish I still had it.
As did I as a child until my brother and I used it to defend the living room and blew a milk bottle out of my sisters hand! Dad had it in the trash pile shortly after...
-
Imo the working gun made by a 3d printer.
-
IMHO;
Pistol: M&P Shield. If you can find one I hear they are great.
Shotgun: Mossberg Flex. Love the concept even if I'm an 870 fan.
Rifle: 10/22 Take-down. Really think that is a great one.
AR: Unsure on that one.

Rifle: Ruger 10-22 takedown or Gunsight Scout.
Pistol: GSG or Sig 1911-22 excellent quality .22 1911 for inexpensive training and practice that mimics the real thing in weight and controls and function except for the recoil.
Shot gun: Not sure, I'm stuck on OLD Ithaca 37's, Winchester model 12's, and Remington 870 Wingmasters, but have been jonsing for the repackaged Mossberg JIC Just in Case.
AR: Nordic components dedicated NC .22 upper if you can find one. Great quality. Great for inexpensive training and practice that closely resembles the weight and function of center-fire Ar uppers. Baring that, any Rock River AR for quality for a decent price.

One category not listed that should be is suppressors. I nominate Huntertown arms suppressors. Very user serviceable and friendly cans. Both rim-fire and center-fire cans can be serviced by the owner. Not as well known as the big boys out there in the suppressor game, but far more value priced. Take a look.

I WANT ONE, BAD!!!!!

I'm not sure if I'm a year too late, at my age time passes quickly. But for rifles I'll have to go with the Mossberg MVP rifle. It's about time for a bolt action based on using cheap, plentiful, Hi-Cap AR-15 magazines. Mossberg does this in an affordable, accurate package with many stock and barrel variations. The fact they're coming out with a .308 version that will use Stoner SR-25 / DPMS type .308 magazines is yet another plus.
For handguns I'll have to give it to Ruger for the LC9. The 9 MM is a much better performer than the .380, and Ruger kept it small enough for easy concealment, and to give competition to the Glock single stack models. It has a excellent price point as well. Second place would also go to Ruger for an all Stainless Commander sized 1911.
For shotguns it would again be something from Mossberg. The had part is picking which one. Their FLEX system is very innovative. All of their pistol grip models are inexpensive and affordable to most anyone on a tight budget who requires a solid self defense tool. The 590 A-1 Mil-Spec models are an unbelievable value for the price. While their specialty and competition shotguns are all but impossible to beat in their respective price ranges, and still get a 100% made in America shotgun.
