Media ‘gun control’ proponents argue there's no longer any need to fear NRA
The Washington Post editorial board yesterday used the sentencing of a shooting rampage maniac in Tucson to amplify a growing post-election theme that the National Rifle Association has lost political clout and is no longer an impediment to passing “gun control” legislation.

Try telling that to every purple state Dem. Hell I, and lots of other libertarian/conservative voters in my district voted against the carpet bagging scumbag Allen West. (Before you yell, listen to the background). He moved from his district to ours because he knew he couldn't win in his own. He blew out a good ol'boy local GOP sheriff with lots of years of service in OUR district because he hit us like Hillary hit New York. Never lived here a day in his life, and came in with millions of out of state money. Thing is, folks down South don't like carpetbaggers, particularly when they lie, and even the GOP front runner West defeated endorsed the Dem who wound up winning. Yeah, it was partially out of spite, but it was also because he reassured folks he was pro-gun. If he hadn't done that he would have lost. Think he's going back on that when he knows he's got another election in two years? Hell, look at Harry Reid, the guy won't give a gun control bill floor time because he represents Nevada. So yeah, there's fear of the NRA, its why I give them money.

I don't give a damn what anyone fears or doesn't fear about the NRA! I want them to fear United States of America citizens who know and understand our Republic!
The NRA is an organization that I belong to, and that I believe is important. However, it is the citizens that are what is important.
I am a free citizen, and I will not allow anyone to take that away from me!

No surprise... the deep-seated hatred by many for the NRA means that every opportunity will be used to predict the demise of the NRA. Many organizations and special interest groups spent a ton of money on this election - not just the pro-gun groups.
Politicians fear groups with money, large memberships, and the ability to get out the vote. The NRA has all of these in spades.
