I found this to of some importance & thought I should throw it out to everyone. Also, pass it on to others!
From NSSF: As the 112th Congress begins its post-election session, NSSF encourages all firearms owners, hunters and sportsmen to call or email their U.S. Senators and urge them to vote YES on the Sportsmen’s Act (S.3525), the most important package of measures for the benefit of sportsmen in a generation. An early vote has been cleared procedurally, so act now. This historic legislation includes the firearms industry’s top legislative priority, the Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Protection Act (S. 838) that would clarify that ammunition is excluded from regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Toxic Substances Control Act.. The Sportsmen’s Act is a package of 19 separate bills – the majority of sportsmen’s legislative priorities on Capitol Hill. (See below for an overview of the components of the bill.) A similar package of bills – the Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012 (H.R. 4089) – was passed by the House in the spring by a bipartisan vote of 276 to 146. Passage of this pro-sportsmen’s legislation will promote, protect and preserve our nation’s hunting, shooting and conservation heritage for generations to come... u](The second link will allow you to send a pre-written e-mail to your senators.)[/u/]

It's no big deal. It happens all the time. Heck, I've seen us take two almost identical threads and keep them both going. That means there's still hope for this one. ;)

Just an observation.. Yellow is a terrible font color. I don't know if anybody else has this problem but I've never been able to read it unless I can move the screen or get low enough on it to see it.. Just a thought..

I high light it if I realize it's there.

I don't hunt at all and I am SO-O tempted to call up Tom G on Sunday and ask him why I should support this Act when he had hunters calling up and saying I don't need my AR or "high capacity" handgun which is why they voted for BHO. EFFE 'EM!
But I calm myself, lift something heavy and act like an informed adult, which those ignorant... ehem..., and I'll do the right thing and support the Sportsmen's Act because I know any attack on the gun community is an attack on ALL of the gun community. Besides the rest of my family hunts and they have harvest at least 6 deer this year already with another 15 tags to go for deer and elk from which I will receive some Jerky because it is all about me ;D

I got an email reply today.
Dear Frank,
Thank you for contacting me about outdoor recreation. As a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus I share your support for hunting and fishing.
Hunting and fishing have been at the center of Michigan's history and culture from the very beginning. Each year, over 8 million acres of public hunting land and tens of thousands of rivers and streams in Michigan draw more than one million hunters and anglers. These men and women add billions to our state's economy and help create jobs in our communities. With some of the best hunting and fishing in the United States, Michigan's proud heritage comes with a sense of profound responsibility to protect that legacy for future generations.
As Chairwoman of the Agriculture Committee, protecting fish and wildlife habitats has been one of my top priorities while working on the Farm Bill. We are strengthening conservation efforts that will protect wildlife habitats and increase access for hunters and anglers across the country. As Congress continues to debate matters related to hunting and fishing, I will be sure to keep your views in mind.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed about issues of concern to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator

Thank you for calming down and thinking!
It is the divide and conquer that the anti's thrive on. If they can get sport shooters and hunters to throw us under the bus (by the way, I am a hunter, sport shooter, and a true believer in the Second Amendment - An anti's worst nightmare) it is easy to paint us as whack jobs. We need to support each other, and we need to help each other craft the message concerning the facts of firearms.

I got this a couple of days ago from the other knucklehead. I mean senator.
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Sportsmen’s Act (S.3525). I appreciate hearing your views on this matter.
On September 10, 2012, Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) introduced the Sportsmen’s Act of 2012, a compilation of 19 separate bills covering a range of issues, including conservation, hunting, fishing and recreational access. Among other things, this act would require that no less than 1.5% of capital from the Land and Water Conservation Fund is apportioned for an annual priority list of projects intended to increase public access to federal lands that restrict access to hunting, fishing and recreational activities. Several conservation programs, including the North Americans Wetlands Conservation Act, the Great Ape Conservation Act, the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act, the African Elephant Conservation Act, and the Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp Act would be reauthorized through this bill. Additionally, the Sportsmen’s Act would exempt ammunition and fishing tackle from the Toxic Substances Control Act, leaving the regulation of waste removal from these materials to state fish and game agencies and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
The bill also would amend the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 to allow hunters to import polar bears from Canada that were killed legally before the species was listed under that Endangered Species Act in May 2008. Some have expressed concern that allowing this importation would set a dangerous precedent and could incentivize hunters in the future to kill vulnerable species before they are listed under the Endangered Species Act.
Forests, parks and wilderness in the United States are some of our nation’s most valuable treasures. These areas provide a unique and distinct landscape that showcases the beauty of our nation, and it is critical that we do all we can to protect them. Hunters, fishers, and outdoor enthusiasts have long played a crucial role in modern wildlife management and conservation efforts. During my time in the Senate, I have supported the rights of these individuals. Protecting our national parks, forests and other wilderness areas for future generations, while securing access for current users, is one of the most important roles I have as a Senator. The Senate is expected to begin consideration of the bill when it returns to session in November.
Thank you again for contacting me. I will be sure to keep your views in mind should the Senate take further action on this legislation.
Sincerely,
Carl Levin
