Under the first rule of self defense, Avoidance, why would any one subject themselves to the situation in this article and video I stole from Chris Fry's facebook:

This is the level that our nation is sinking to. People are willing to risk their lives for a high priced piece of electronic crap that makes them feel important and powerful. I detest the label "Black Friday" for the day after Thanksgiving, but after viewing this and talking to people that I once thought were level headed I have accepted the term. I accept it because it shows how dumb we as a society have become, and how far we have strayed from the events we are remembering in this 34 day period that started this past Thursday.
Even if you choose to ignore the significance of these days, please pay attention to your surroundings, and protect yourself!

Ignorant folks don't realize they're being played!
Do what I do, wait until January if you need something! I didn't leave the house yesterday other than to go to the liquor store! No lines there...

Black Friday: Here Are the Top 5 Things you Should Think Twice About Before Buying
It’s almost that time again! Black Friday is almost upon us!
For those of you who dig this non-holiday, you’re probably already thinking about your in-store strategy. They’re going to open those doors, you’re going to run in there as fast as you can, maybe trip over a person or two, and — and then what?
What should you get? What should you avoid?
You see, many stores are guilty of promoting Black Friday “deals” that aren’t actually deals at all. So what should you be on the lookout for? We’re glad you asked. That’s what we’re here for.
As you sit there camped out in front of some big box store, people crowding you, take a few moments to consider the following. Who knows? It might save you a bundle.
The following are the top five Black Friday “deals” you should think twice about:
HDTVs
Christmas Decorations
iPad mini
Small home appliances
Toys

Tom,
I didn't see guns on your list. Did you omit those on purpose? Or do those fall under "toys"?

Heck, my wife went out into the mess with her sisters..... but I must admit she completed most of her Christmas shopping in one fell swoop for about half the cost...... so my wallet ain't complaining.....too much.
I, being on crutches since Thursday, stayed home....... but I still ordered a new TV for the bedroom (old one been on the blink for over a month) and a surround sound for our son. Got them both from Amazon for about 60% savings and free shipping.

I can't figure out why either.
Only hunch I have is that folks so inclined want to be sure no one else gets more 'free' or cheap stuff than they do.
If God didn't want us to grab as much stuff as we can, He wouldn't have given us to good hands to do it with.

"Black Monday" is tommorow. Its when web busineses' offer Black Friday sales. Not only do you not have to fight the masses, you don't even have to get dressed. ;D

I dont think I have ever gone Christmas shopping on Black Friday. For me, if its not done before September 1 (dove season) it aint happenen until the seven day countdown. As a kid in Wisconsin, it was always deer season that week, shopping was limited to running into the Holiday Station Store while you filled with gas and picking up batteries for your heated socks. As a young adult with my own kids it was a great time to take them up to the sledding slopes. Now as an old guy with a decreasing respect for the make up of the general populace, and a hieghtened sense of self preservation, there is no way I'm going out into that fray.
It just seems like with all kinds of hunting seasons going on, family around, snow needing to be played in, theres just to much to do to take time to go shopping. :D

.... until the seven day countdown. ...
The WHAT? You said 7 DAY countdown.
What's your rush. I get mine done early during the 7 HOUR countdown.

My family has called a cease fire. We don't buy gifts for anyone over 16. This means you can buy after Christmas, as a toy that will make a three year old happy will make a four year old happy. No chaos and better deals.

Call me a hard A$$. but my family knows that dear old Dad needs a christmas list by the end of September. Daddy don't do black friday. Not worth the stress and people lose their ever lovin minds. There seems to be NO sense of manners or normal social interaction.
