To start off its a 4.5" and has gone two years without a jam. Shooting mostly Rem. Golden Sabers 185gr. +P and 230gr. ball @ 196pf i can no longer trust the gun. Soooo much so i had to buy a 220. As norm to some of you this must sound more than one of my peers were agast. For years i said no to SIG due to the slidestop position and let eveyone know it. The S&W in my hands can cut the same or better off hand as the SIG from bags and my first shot on target avg. .25 to .4 sec. more with the SIG at the bowling pin pratice table with my hit 9% down . >:(
Now i know it alot for myfirst post but to add to it the smith has about 10k 230gr. and less than 2k 185+P
Any advice or help would be good.
thanks yall

I think there are plenty of people who would like to help you, but you haven't exactly stated a problem or question.

Call me dense, but what is the problem?

now i know i said it i just did not type it. i am very srry for the trouble but the gun no longer is reliable for a spand of 50 rds.
to make things a lot worst it seems those gun gremlins hit right after i gain alittle trust in the gun. the jamming is random and i kno that the ejector is a prob. with these guns but i have sent it out to S&W once to have fixed without the "fix" part .
ONCE AGAIN SORRY

If you haven't already, you might try cleaning your magazines. If that does not help, you may need new mag springs.

Don,
Glad you understood -- as I am still unclear to the stated problem. My thoughts are replace the recoil springs and magazine springs with Wolf springs and see if it corrects any problems. Many shooters rarely, if ever, replace springs -- resulting in 75%+ of most 1911 problems. With these ultra-light Scandium examples -- who knows?

Right, that's why I shoot revolvers now. :D

thanks yall. i have tried 4 different mags makers and 5 if you include the factory mags, to no avail and also different recoil along w/ different# springs. the local gunsmith has had his hands on it and promised all is well but same story. guess i am to much of a newbie to want total reliablity from an auto.

Send it back to S&W and let them fix it!
I have found the S&W 1911s to be among the most reliable out of the box 1911s I've ever shot. Like a lot of people on this forum, when I hear about mixed-lot problems I immediately think ammo or magazines.
Before you contact S&W, I would suggest putting 50-100 rounds through the gun, log every malfunction and catagorize it...failure to eject, failure to feed, nose of bullet hit barrel hood, gun detonated and is presently in low earth orbit, etc. This really helps out on problem-solving. If I send a gun to a gunsmith and just say, "It won't shoot," they yell at me and demand more info. As Bill Laughridge so gently says, "You know how the damn things work! Tell me what's not working! Otherwise, how can you expect me to fix it, you idiot!" With most customers, he deltes the "you idiot" phraseology...
PS...Worsham, when you see me this weekend and buy me expensive designer beer, ask me why I recommended .44 Special revolvers for airline pilots!

Mr. Bane that is prob. the best.... no prob. about it IT IS THE BEST ADVICE i have recieved thank you for your time . S&W will be receiving my Sc1911 . I have to say though the Sig220 is going to stay even if its slidestop is wrong. Dryfire pratice is soooo much better w/sig.
Thanks to all for opinions.

You will be very disappointed with S&W service if you can't explain WHAT problem you are having. "My gun jams" doesn't cut it.
You say "I kno the ejector is a prob with these guns." I don't think so...the EXTRACTOR has been suspect to those that can't stand an external extractor on a 1911. They have been used for 40 years or so on other Smith autos and seem to work fine. My Sig 1911 has an external extractor...no big deal.
Once again, so the cheap seats can hear it -- WHAT IS YOUR GUN DOING WHEN IT "JAMS"?!?!
Where is the empty case ending up? Where is the next cartridge ending up?
This may be something as simple as lube it properly and hold it firmly.

Don, I think all of us would like to hear the answer to that one (44 sp revolver), so take good notes. ;)

Just to let yall know , i contacted S&W and was put through to the repair department . After telling the 1st person[girl] my problems she sounded as confused as I was/am . So my blood presure started to rise . I think she was in the same boat . Sooo long story short she got the head gunsmith on the line . I was honored . I gave him the same story as the girl expecting to here "not enough info" but that was not the case. He was very positive and seem to know what the problem or to be more exact problems were . THE REASON(S) FOR JAMMING WERE MOST LIKELY 1.ejector (which does have some movement) 2.extractor and 3.maybe just maybe from repeated jams may of caused a problem with the feeding from mag to chamber via a bur or something else. So needless to say S&W's customer service is AWSOME!!!!!
The problem will be fixed and the gun will be testfired 200 to 300 rounds just to make sure .
Now i asked is there anyway my 1911Sc would be reliable enough for my trust again and he promised it would or i would get a new one which was . That put me at ease . ;D
By the way if i didnt say it before thanks to everyone for thier input. It help me out.
