Title: LEO/EMS/FIRE--HELP
Post by: PegLeg45 on November 27, 2012, 12:15:12 PM
Got this email and FB post from a very close friend. It is a call to LEO/EMS/Fire Depts to help make the wishes of a sick little boy come true.
Below is the text and pertinent links and info.

Thanks for your time, folks,

Chuck (Peg)

I've got a few friends in law enforcement. If y'all would spread this around I think it would help make a little boy happy. This was posted to a site I frequent and was verified there.
In reality, anyone could send this child mail. I'm sure he would enjoy all mail.

This email was sent by my fire chief, please send to your friends in public safety.

Good Morning,

This original request was sent from Sgt. Robert Carpenter - Public Information Officer of the Virginia State Police, Division VI, (I have his phone number) who received a request from another officer that a friend of his who is a life-saving member in Bedford County said that a 6 year old boy from Rustburg, Va is sadly dying of terminal cancer and might not live to see Christmas. His special request is to receive Christmas cards from police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel.

The request then came to Chief James Seavey from Wesley Melson who is a volunteer Chief of Colonial Beach Rescue Squad and a career personal in Va. and then from Chief Seavey to me.

Besides a card, a patch would be a thrilling addition to give to this little boy.

In this time of remembering our blessings and of giving I can think of nothing more appropriate then to give this little boy some happiness and our prayers.

Please quickly send to:

Nathan Norman

Edit: Nathan's address is posted on a news article, so I can post it here:

This is from Nathan's mom, Dawn:

Thank you all so much. What an encouragement to our family during this time!!! Nathan is such a brave warrior and has taught me so much through his love, strength and faith. He loves seeing the messages and cards to him. It really lifts his spirits. Nathan does have a brain tumor and spinal cord tumor that will not go away unless The Lord removes them. He has been on 6 different chemos and has had 3 surgeries. We know that we will eventually run out of options. He is currently on 3 different chemo meds which as of last month have stabilized the tumors. The cancer is there, just not growing for the moment. The Lord has allowed stability 3 different times for us and then progression of the disease has followed shortly after ending treatment each time. We do not expect to lose Nathan before Christmas this year (and we pray not next year or the following year etc). However we know with each end of treatment, our options are getting less and less. We also know the chances of something happening due to his chemo. The reason we put up Christmas early this year was for Nathan to enjoy the lights. We fully believe he will be with us for Christmas. Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts.

God Bless, Dawn Norman"
