Thanks to BHO, the best gun salesman for the 4th year in a row...............

Black Friday Gun Sales Set Record

A new single-day record for point-of-sale background checks was established on Black Friday, November 23, when 154,873 were conducted by the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). That total was nearly 20 percent more than the previous high of 129,166 set on Black Friday last year. Since a federal background check is mandatory for every firearm sold at retail, background check activity serves as an indicator of retail gun sales.

-------------------------------

“Responsible firearms ownership is popular, mainstream and growing,” said NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti. “Americans in record numbers are choosing to own firearms for target shooting, hunting, collecting and personal and home protection.”

The new one-day record was not unexpected, as NSSF pointed out in a recent blog post, given reports of increased gun sales following the election of President Barack Obama to a second term and also hunting license sales increasing.

Think how much bigger the number would be if the purchases by using a CCW permit (thus not requiring the NICS check) were added.

I swear to God, I would bet good money every EBR and ammo company gave the man money for re-election. He's sold more guns than Samuel Colt. ;D

We sold a ton of guns on Friday and all weekend but Friday was huge.  When the NICS call center down we had checks backing up.  Even when they cam online again we had 10 or 15 minute waits.  As a result we were batching checks when we got through.  We would pass the phone between sales people when we got through.  Every call would have 3 or more checks.

We had to do the same thing a few times that day.  Everytime you called they where backed up.

Remember the Delta commercial where a long line of Army guys trying to go on leave lined up at a phone booth to make reservations?   At the end of the call the Delta clerk was asked how many calls she had handled today.  "Just one" she replied.

For that matter how many of you remember phone booths?  Or the OAG?

Here's an interesting comparison I received from the NICS mailing list:

So, if I read that correctly, the RATE of increase is decreasing.

Once we get pass any legislation in this coming year sales could sales down trend?

I don't show up in the stats because I only bought half a gun, another upper for the SBR. This one is in 300 blackout with a 10.5 inch barrel.
