so says the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission chairman..... ::) ::)
(Where do these people come from?)
FERC Chairman Dubs .22 Rifles Terrorist Weapons
The chairman of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has provided aspiring terrorists with an idea – use a .22 rifle to take out power transformers.
“There are ways that a very few number of actors with very rudimentary equipment could take down large portions of our grid,” FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff said at a Bloomberg Government breakfast in Washington last Friday. “I don’t think we have the level of physical security we need.”
A would-be al-Qaeda miscreant “could get 200 yards away with a .22 rifle” could take down the power grid, Wellinghoff warned.
Mr. Wellington did not provide an explanation why — over the last decade — the terrorist group has not targeted the power grid in the United States.
Bloomberg Government describes itself as a “single, comprehensive web-based information service for professionals who interact with or are impacted by the Federal Government.”
The notorious gun-grabber, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, owns the online subscription-based service.
“Wellinghoff has managed to inject an anti-rifle scare into the energy debate that Bloomberg News, in thrall to its billionaire anti-gun zealot master, has the means to disseminate to the general public to manipulate and gin up the fear needed in order for planned ‘solutions’ to be introduced,” writes David Codrea.

If anyone is capable of taking out transformers at 200 yards with a .22 let them. I'd like to see it.
-
I think the guy is brilliant to point this out. If we didn't realize this deadly threat (shooting transformers with .22s), we would be distracted by silly things like worrying about truck bombs, people flying airplanes into buildings and chemical attacks in subways. But we know that's amateur hour, real terrorists use 10/22s to snipe transformers so they AC turns off. Jeebus, where did they find this guy?

More of a threat in Phoenix in July than it is in Laconia in December.

Jumbo, you don't have to damage them, just take out the cooling. rather thats a fan, or fuild.. The trash can ones you see on the poles are filled with mineral oil. if it leaks out, they go bad.
-
When we were kids in New Hampshire... we'd take our single shot bolt action Colt .22 and a pocket full of transformers to the sand pit and plink the hell out of them ...
Unfortunately at the time we never picked up after ourselves.... transformers and there coils and fluids leaking all over the place...
Does that make me an Eco-terrorist?

Hell, silly string or mono line or ight wire will do it if you connect them with something conuctive. Squirrels are pretty good at that too. There's the real threat right there, a crack squad of well trained jihadi suicide squrrels. ;D

Morons. :(

Which is eminently better than a well-trained suicide squad of crack squirrels.
(especially if they are really pissed because they are shakin' to bad to climb trees)

Mylar Helium ballons.
OH MY GOODNESS!
We missed controlling mylar and helium.
Anyone who buys, uses or wants mylar or helium is a freaking terrorist. We've almost totally overlooked these dangerous 5 year olds.

Yes, it is sarcasm. But like science fiction may become tomorrow's truth.

Y'all are missing the unstated objective of this asshat's declaration. .22 rifles are a terrorist tool, so they must be banned. And anyone in possession of a .22 rifle MUST be a terrorist.
-
Don't forget about those Winchester and Marlin .30-.30 lever actions sniper rifles and the 1000 yard precision shots that can take out an entire nuke plant.

1,000yds? Only 1,000yds? I thought those multi-shot, lead spewing assault guns were good out to 5 miles.
And quite frankly, if I were taking pot shots at anything nuclear, I'd want to be 5 miles out.

Sometimes ridicule works better than a debate. Especially when it really isn't a debate. Ridicule is a powerful weapon used by propagandists...primarily communist socialists like the ones we have in the dem party and presidency these days.
So...take the ridicule to the streets. It has a shocking effect on the useful idiots....they don't want to appear as stupid in public as they really are. They will also distance themselves from positions that, in their minds, make them seem foolish.
Yeah...I got it. Freedom, individual responsibility, religious affiliation (anything not mooslim) etc...spouting that will also put you on the terror list some day.

That only applies to Muslims and other Obama voters.
The rest don't have guts enough to take violent action against their masters.
They might miss "Dancing with the Stars".
Some one earlier posted something about "God bless America".
Why should he ?
America sure as hell does not deserve it.
America made it's choice Nov 6th and they deserve the result.
If you don't deserve the result you won't see this because you are out shooting transformers, and the occasional Fed.

A side note on what misinformation, rampant in the ignorant masses, can do:
The owner of a local area range, after many meetings trying to educate folks, finally volunteered (to avoid a costly court battle) to stop allowing .50 caliber rifles on his range because there was a group of "concerned citizens" who hired a lawyer to "stop people from shooting those "deadly 10,000 yard rifles" near their homes........ ::)
His lawyer told him he could probably win the case, but it would cost him a lot of money.....and since there were only a couple of guys with the .50's, he relented.
As the saying goes: Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. >:(

They crucified my Savior, started the Communist Party in Russia, enabled Hitler, empowered Pol Pot, and voted in Odamna--twice.
From my perspective, the masses (or them asses) are batting 1000.
Sheesh... Even monkeys guess right about 50% of the time.

Not so.. I've seen guys on our side attack these idiots with sarcasm and had the comments quoted by the leftists as facts from our own mouths.. The lemmings eat it up..
Just the facts ma'am..

They crucified my Savior, ...
Hate to have to point this one out, but God and we did that.. You and I.
"... that He gave His only begotten son..."
That's a rap that gets hung around the necks of the Jews all the time, (erroneously)..
Sorry.. I know you know. It's just not a minor point..
Somebody might not know...
Sorry.. ;D

Whether or not it was a preordained set up, the actual mechanics of the deed were that the Jewish leadership condemned him and the Roman soldiers did the heavy lifting.

The jewish crowd chose to spare someone else. It was Pilate that condemned him. Yeah, the Temple elders held a grudge, but blaming them not the Romans is like saying the Nazis weren't behind the deeds of the Quisling regime in Norway. It doesn't wash. The buck stops with the guy in charge, which was Pilate.
-
Well, it was pre-ordained.......God told everyone through the Old Testament prophets it was coming....and everyone was a-waitin' and a-waitin'........ and when the time finally came 'round, they turned their backs..... just like they had been doing for generations..

For a historian you aren't very well informed.
What part of "I find no fault with this man" don't you get ?
Lots of schooling.
Pity it didn't include any LEARNING.

Do you really want to waste band width debating the Book of Matthew? Its there for all to see. Lets just agree that there are differing ways to interpret it, but I think I'm in the right here. Regardless, its not relevant to the post or the board.
