TSA Refuses to Show at Committee Hearing
Claims House Transportation Committee has no jurisdiction over it

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) refused an invitation to appear at a House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure hearing Thursday, declaring the committee had no jurisdiction over the agency.

TSA administrator John Pistole was invited to testify at a hearing of the Subcommittee on Aviation titled “How best to improve our nation’s airport passenger security system through common sense solutions.”

However, in a press release issued Tuesday, the TSA said the rules of the House of Representatives “state that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has no jurisdiction over the Transportation Security Administration (TSA),” therefore “no representative from TSA will be present at the subcommittee on aviation hearing.”

Subcommittee on Aviation chairman Rep. Tom Petri (R., Wis.) said the agency’s “absence today demonstrates why the public is so frustrated with the TSA.”

The Republican-led committee has often attacked the agency.

“TSA has mushroomed into a massive, inflexible, backward-looking bureaucracy” whose “numerous failures have cost taxpayers $57 billion,” Petri wrote on the subcommittee’s website.

The committee said in a statement that TSA “is missing the point” when it claims the committee has no jurisdiction over it.

“While this committee does not have direct legislative jurisdiction over TSA, that agency, as with any other agency, has a responsibility to provide Congressionally requested testimony or information when TSA programs and performance impact matters within the committee’s jurisdiction,” the committee said in a statement. “Unfortunately, TSA regularly chooses to not even respond to simple requests for information by this committee.”

Thursday’s hearing focused on recommendations from government and private organizations on how to improve TSA’s screening process.

“The TSA and its 45,000 screeners are responsible for a complex and difficult job: Ensuring the security of all aviation passengers,” Rep. Petri said. “The TSA would be well served in pursuing better partnerships with aviation stakeholders.”

I could see how, for example,  the FDA might say that if summoned before the Armed Services Committee.
But if the Transportation Committee has no jurisdiction over TSA then who would they expect to answer to ?
They definitely answer to some committee for sure .
Every Govt agency answers to 2, Ways and Means, for funding, and a specialist committee.

Anybody that is shocked by this needs to take two of whatever you've been taking the last half century and go back to bed.

I don't know of any agency that sees them self as accountable to anybody.

The TSA is part of the Department of Homeland Security, the biggest mistake from the Bush administration.  Congress would need to deal with Homeland Security I would think.

The real frightening one is the financial one created by Dodd Frank which answers to only the Dictator and Chief, and is funded directly by the Federal Reserve to bypass Congress.

If the House would give a tug on the purse string, they'd show up quick enough.. I could imagine O sending a Executive LE detachment to remove Boehner for withholding funding..

The reaction by Washington to 9/11, in my mind was the end of the Republic, or at least the remnant thereof..
I don't feel like reliving all the crap that came flinging out of that place, especially since we do it every day anyway, just as a matter of "caution"..

Replace Boehner with a spine that never saw the inside of a tanning salon.. My Rep is on a sub of Ways and Means, and that guy seems alot like a product of "Daddys Money" by the way he carries himself.. Asking him to step up and get a grip on things means I'd have to forget he voted for the "Super Committee"..

(On a separate note, that reminded me of that high and holy hill that Arlen Specter worshiped on, called "Super Duper Precedent".. What a bunch of ass clowns we have, that we keep reelecting up there..)

This is not good.  Which is an understatement.

When I worked on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve a congressional letter of investigation was somthing that caused panic and a lot of people to drop what they were doing and answer "the mail".  A real pain in the behind is an understatement.  Not that you had to work Congress's bidding, but that there was enough respect or fear to give them a good answer.

That the TSA is called and they do not respond confirms that this branch of government, Congress, is being increasingly marginalized.

It has been apparent for years that Congress, more specifically the dem lib socialist-communist, want to run the nation outside of the Constitution when they have a president they don't like.  With the latest election it looks more like evidence of behind the scenes solidification of communist rule by ignoring legitimate requests they do not like as they most certainly report to Comrade Obama and no one else.

This is flat thumbing your nose at Congress.  In a previous time I would say this would be bureacratic job suicide...today it may to be to further prove the beginnings of commie rule under a new regime.

Yup.. Folks don't generally get worked up about what .gov does anymore, but this should, by all rights, be a 5 alarm news flash, followed by a mass and sudden wave of unemployment sweeping across the department..

Its their own fault. All it would take is one phone call from Boehner expressing to the the TSA that he won't fund an agency that he has no authority over, and it would end. But he'd have to follow through. He doesn't have the stones to do it sadly. Does anyone else miss Ron Paul right about now? :'(

Geithner, our favorite tax-dodger, makes his impassioned plea for Congress to lift the deficit limit forever.

That will be the key that Congress is 100% figurehead and that the Constitution is being totally swept under the rug.

From that point forward the duty of Congress and the Supreme Court will be to affirm Obama's plans for us....much like the Soviets did their form of government.

Der Kommissars (commissars) are already in place;  are there not about 50 czar's in place already?

Plans are on the table to track all cattle electronically with laws currently being crafted to that require cattle be electronically tagged and calfs be registered and tagged immediately.  Laws are being crafted and/or are in place making it either illegal to have one's own garden or to make it illegal to give or sell produce.  The new taxes that Obama wants will spell the end of the family farms and either impose or usher in either huge corporate (easily controllable) farms or collectives.  Hybrid varieties of fruits and vegetables will not reproduce so forget your own garden unless you get legacy/heirloom seeds now.  There are so many little laws laws and regulations out there now if they snap their finger the food supply will tighten measureably.  Maybe we should send our food to Obama's mooslim brothers?  So...absolute control of the food supply is nearly in place.

What's up with medical device manufacturers releasing thousands upon thousands of workers when Obama got elected?  Yeah, right some idiots (is there a better word to use that implies even greater levels of stupidity and self-greed????maybe democrat???) will say it is to punish workers for electing Obama, but the truth is that Obamacare won't need medical devices and that older people who have worked to have medical care all of their life...just die damn it.  You have to have a societal purpose past 70 for any meaningful care...guess that limits it to the useful idiot's controllers.

Is it going to be as bad as I've implied above?  When Boehner caves, if he caves, and republicans allow unlimited deficits that will be key this stuff is becoming likely.  Remember the flack I caught a couple of years ago about being at a dinner with Senator Inholf and him warning of Congress making itself null and void this way and the danger of line item vetoes doing the same being pushed by the likes of McCain and other Rino's?  It will never happen....maybe not....hope not....but we are on the cusp now.
Let's see....where was that?  http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=14900.msg192689;topicseen#msg192689 (http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=14900.msg192689;topicseen#msg192689)

Well, I think it's smart to store up a little gold or silver for bribes to get health care.  Bribes worked in the USSR and are required in the third world...looks like it's the up and coming thing here.  Hey...it's insurance.  Save a little up and pay off the czar and get care....just like any other 3rd world nation.

During the Roman Empire, Rome had a Senate.
Soviet Union, a Politburo.
Nazi Germany, the Reichstag.

All were formally constituted, duly elected by "democratic" means - and completely powerless. So, yeah, Rastus, marginalized is a nice word for it.

As for the rest of your post, starving the populace into submission worked well for Josef S in the Ukraine, it will be tried here.

The Soviet Union even had a Constitution.
It was classified as a State secret, (like their road maps ) but they had one.

We used to have a 4th estate that saw it's job was to expose such things to the light of day.  However, the media is now complicit and invested in a liberal-progressive State.

There is always an "elite" class with special privileges in any communist/socialist/dictatorship.  The elite class has handlers for the masses.  The masses' opiate is the empty promise from the elites.  To gain access to the promise one must pay off the handler....time to save up.

Got a wife that's been on the heart transplant list and could end up back on it.

So....no way anyone will get anything like that with Obamadeathcare unless you pay off the handler.

If TSA doesn't answer to the Legislative Branch, does that mean I don't need to answer to the Judicial Branch when I ignore TSA?

If anarchy is good for one it is good for all!  And, this is exactly what our Founding Fathers warned us about  >:(

Guys, the people just don't recognize citizenship has ended.  Being subjects of the communistic and dictatorial democratic party is the new progressive american way.  The horror of what has happened has yet to be visited upon their little worlds.  It takes time...it takes suffering...be patient and prepare as best you can for you and yours because that's the hand we've been dealt.

Most of the sheep will never notice the difference until they have to stand in lines when THE store gets a load of toilet paper, or size ten shoes, (you don't wear 10 ? Maybe you can find some one to trade with )
Brands ? You've got 2 choices, buy it or don't buy it.
Of course the "special people will be able to shop at the "special" store.
Google "GUM store".
