Title: Darkening or Blcking stainless steel
Post by: blackwolfe on December 01, 2012, 11:11:28 PM
Does any one know of a method or product for darkening stainless steel?  I have a stainless gun or two that I would like to darken the barrel and or the frame.  I know I can "paint" or coat the guns, but I was looking for something other than that.  I might bead blast to take the shine off and that will "gray" it out some.  I was looking for something for the do it yourself project.  I have seen stainless knives and guns that have a darker logo or lettering on them that seems to be in the metal itself.  I don't know if that was done with a laser or what.  I was hoping that maybe there was some kind of etching paste or product you could do at home.  Anyone know of anything or done this themselves?
