Title: An insider attack: Trust cost 2 lives

What our people are facing........

Quote
An insider attack: Trust cost 2 lives

It was a sneak attack, but not by the enemy they feared.

U.S. Army Capts. Joshua Lawrence and Drew Russell were inside a small command post on an Afghan army base, wrapping up a long day of coordinating the safe arrival of nearly 100 Afghan religious and tribal leaders for a peace conference at a nearby palace.

Darkness had fallen.

Some of their fellow soldiers had retired for the evening.

Two stood guard.

All seemed well.

But as several soldiers sprawled on nearby cots, playing cards, the calm collapsed catastrophically at 9:27 p.m.

An exploding grenade shattered the stillness, followed in seconds by bursts of gunfire. Before any of the Americans could raise a hand to defend themselves, Lawrence was dead from a bullet to the head, and Russell was dying, shot three times in the back.

They were not killed by the Taliban, as the U.S.-led military coalition indicated the day after the Oct. 8, 2011, assault. Lawrence, 29, of Nashville, Tenn., and Russell, 25, of Scotts, Mich., were killed in what U.S. investigators later called a "calculated and coordinated" attack by Afghan soldiers entrusted to work alongside their U.S. partners.

This is the first published account of the attack and is based on internal Army records and interviews in the U.S. and Afghanistan.

The left (and FQ) accuse Bush of invading Iraq for cheap oil. (Which didn't happen)
Obama turned a special ops and training mission into a full scale occupation in order to advance Starbucks and Home Depot.
A country with out a stable central gov can not be manipulated to the will of George Soros.

If we had invaded Iraq for oil I'd have been all for it. Instead we invaded it for bugger all. We replaced one anti American regime with another. In Afghanistan what are we fighting over? There's nothing there but fanatics and rocks. The only thing they can agree on is that they hate us more than each other. Trying to civilize these people is like trying to teach a donkey to sing. The day after we leave they'll go right back to killing each other once we're out of the way. A liberal will say this view makes me a racist. A conservative will say I'm a defeatist. I say I'm a freaking realist. You want to stay there? What's your plan?

As some one who thinks the Taliban are fighting our war for us I just think you're an idiot.
But you probably knew that already.   ;D
What US troops are fighting for in Afghanistan is some never defined "victory".
What Obama's "Surge" from the special ops and training of the Bush years to the full scale quagmire is intended to do is to bring a free people under control of a socialist regime with out the 100 of preparation that the US and England required.
The Afghan tribesman has his religion, his rifle and a subsistence crop to feed his family.
He never wanted any thing more, he never needed anything more, and he never asked for anything more.
US troops are being used for the evil purpose of suppressing that same spirit that you members here bemoan the loss of in our own country.
The Taliban are better Americans than we are because they have guts enough to fight for their freedom.
Americans on the other hand voted it away for a cell phone and BS.

Even the Egyptians, who have lived under Dictators for about 4,000 years are more serious about their rights than complacent, lazy, ARMED Americans.

CAIRO (AP) — More than 100,000 Egyptians protested outside the presidential palace in Cairo on Tuesday, fueling tensions over Islamist leader Mohammed Morsi's seizure of nearly unrestricted powers and the adoption by his allies of a controversial draft constitution.
