Title: music video- Prelude:
Post by: Bic on December 09, 2012, 06:57:08 PM
Even an old self-righteous Neil Young hippy song can have redeeming qualities when beautifully sung:

Its a beautiful tune, and that should be above politics. Because politics come and go, but beauty remains. Here's the original. I think yours is  a lot better, but let's not forget old Neil.

"Above politics"  ..........yeah I s'pose. Is that why I always feel so dirty after enjoying Steve Earl's 'Copperhead Road', 'Galway Girl' or 'Guitar Town'?

I am going to come across the net and Gibbs slap you. You ain't voting for the guy, you're just enjoying the music. Do you care about the politics of your plumber, mechanic or vet? No, you just care about if they do a good job. Why should it be different for artists? Maybe your plumber is head of his union and worked hard to get BO reelected. If he's good, you're still going to hire him as that's what you're paying for. Chill out and enjoy the music. ;D

well..I do care really. If I knew which way a potential hiree voted it might well influence my decision to retain their services.

Taking some of that crap out of its context to reply. [soapbox rant] Yes, I do fuggin care about the politics of anybody I hire to do anything for me.  If ' they' support any of that left handed, red headed, knee jerk, communist sympathizing, gubmint interference bullschmidt and I know of it, I either don't hire, or I fire.  Period.  And, I tell them why!   I'll go out of my way to find and hire someone that supports and defends the constitution of the United States of America.  I'll even pay more, if I have to.

If more people, especially conservative dilettantes like you, did the same, this ship of state would begin a course change faster than a sailor gets fugged by a whore in Naples, Italy. [/soapbox rant]

Hope you're not talking about the "camp fire girls" by the NATO Base .  ;D

Genoa was pretty quick to part a Marine from his lira as well.  ;D

By the time we made port in Italy, I was usually restricted to the ship and doing extra duty.  Didn't much care for pompous Officer types.

PC at its finest. You hire a man based on his politics, not how well he does his job. Congratulations commissars, you've just undermined the 1A. ::)

PS Which of you wouldn't be howling if their boss fired them for owning a gun?

FQ, you are the most thoughtless Libertarian I have ever met .
Either that or you're just plain stupid .
No where in the Constitution does it say either that you have a right to undermine or subvert the Constitution, or that I have to respect or hire people who do .
You should just register "Idiot" because you are most surely no Libertarian.
Here's a hint, a REAL Libertarian understands that the only legitimate interaction the Federal Govt has with you is delivering your mail, recruiting you for the Armed forces, and collecting taxes .

No...all things being equal I'd choose the constitutionalist over the alternative to do my bidding, and I'd never work for someone who wasn't "pro gun"

Yup, I do care.. Union labor pay union dues and work against my best interests, and that of the Republic.
I also don't like giving money, generally speaking, to people who disagree with me.
I hire based on reputation of work and ethic, but I find out the wages I pay are being used against me, I stop paying..
You've got to be damn good to overcome that one with me..
With all the qualified people out there trying to make a living, I can afford to be picky..
It matters to me.

If we only listened to artists that were on the same page as us politically, we wouldn't have much music to listen to.  A person can be creative and expressive or they can be logical.  It's pretty rare to find someone with a brain that is capable of both.

There's a reason logical people don't write or perform music very often.

I haven't read it, but Phil Collins published a book about the Alamo that focuses on his large collection of Alamo memorabilia.
