Boy oh boy, can't these idiots focus on something more productive?
Anti-gun politician demands renewing ban on non-existent gun
A test of a printed plastic lower firearm receiver has resulted in an anti-gun politician demanding renewal of a law against a gun that does not exist, Live Science reported today, citing a call by Rep. Steve Israel, D- N.Y., to renew “the federal ban on plastic guns just days after members of the ‘Wiki Weapon’ project tested a 3D-printed gun part in a live-fire test.”
“Congress passed a law banning plastic guns for two decades, when they were just a movie fantasy,” Israel stated in a Friday press release. “With the advent of 3-D printers these guns are suddenly a real possibility, but the law Congress passed is set to expire next year.” The “Undetectable Firearms Act” Israel refers to was itself passed as an overreaction to manufactured anti-gun fears at the time.
-----------------------
Being lost in all the noise is the fact that non-metal (polymer) lower receivers are not new, and are commercially available. No one has suggested that they fall afoul of the 1988 law, because they don’t, so Rep. Israel's agenda is obviously not to keep someone from slipping through airport security with an “invisible” gun, meaning his bait and switch intent is to further close off technology to all but an approved class, with all the opportunities for failure and corruption that implies.

Buy a lotto ticket.
I agree with TAB on this, He's just really stupid.
Just like the people who got the original law passed because Glocks were "plastic guns that could pass through air port X ray machines there'll be blood in the streets we're all gonna die" .
Those incompetent a holes at TSA have let all metal guns through, they have, during tests of the system, let blocks of REAL explosives get lost on international flights, they have even lost simulated nuke materials .

Just because he is an idiot does not make it ok to let him push for this. Tom, you were all over me for my stance the other day, and now you are saying don't worry about it ??? What was it you said about people, I think you included me in it, that let stuff pass 80 years ago?
I don't think we should allow any limitations and bans pass or renew. If it comes up it should be fought. It is letting something like this go in the spirit of compromise that has gotten the NRA into the business of letting bans and limitations happen.
Let's say it is 2022, and 3D printers cost $3,000, why shouldn't I be able to crank out a firearm action in my office? If it were legal I could go out to my shop and in 30 minutes have a working handgun, in a couple hours a very polished and easy to operate firearm. Why can't I do that if I want? Do we want to continue this infringement on our rights?

I called him (and by saying 'these' included those like him) an idiot.
Sounds like someone didn't read enough.

Where do you get that out of my saying the guys a f*cking idiot ?
Personally I don't think being a f*cking idiot excuses bad laws, dumb internet posts or bad driving or anything else.
I think they should be euthanized.
