I guess people are seeing some writing on the wall or something.
http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22208917/colorado-gun-background-checks-break-records (http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22208917/colorado-gun-background-checks-break-records)
This weekend set a new record for all single-day background check submittals in Colorado for potential gun purchases, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation officials.
The first day after news of one of the worst mass shootings in America, when a gunman killed 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., requests to buy guns in Colorado surged to more than 4,200.
Exact figures weren't available Monday morning while submittals were being processed, CBI spokeswoman Susan Medina said.
But Medina said Saturday's figures exceeded the previous greatest number of background checks on Black Friday this year, when 4,028 were processed.
The surge following the massacre was so massive it overwhelmed the system, Medina said. So many background checks were submitted the process that normally usually takes minutes turned into wait times of more than 12 hours.
"We had to call in extra staff,"Medina said. "The wait times were high."
Saturday morning the wait time on a check was a little more than 15 minutes. By Sunday, it was 18 hours, Medina said.
Medina said Monday the backlog meant wait times of about 19 hours.

We sold more guns this weekend than ever on a normal weekend (not machine gun shoot), it was unreal. Everybody that walked in seemed like they bought a gun.
-
This is getting more convoluted every time it happens. We supposedly have more people who want these type of weapons banned because of this latest shooting. Yet as soon as it happened, we end up setting national sales records for these exact same guns, along with the magazines that feed them. Is this the "outrage" the liberals keep whining about?
-
Actually it's just a few liberals and the media who want guns banned in reply to a mental health issue.
It's the same mentality that would address obesity by forks.

Exactly........ a group of anti-freedom zealots......who gain power from the growing herd of sheepistic idiots who blindly follow...... just because they need a personal bandwagon to ride on so they can feel warm and fuzzy inside.

It's not forks it's the spoons! If we are going after a problem, we need to keep focused.
IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN!
I was in Cabela's the other day. The gun counter looked like they were giving away free ammo. (they weren't, I checked)

I was in Cabela's the other day. The gun counter looked like they were giving away free ammo. (they weren't, I checked).
Same here. The J-Hooks for AR, P-Mags and Glock mags were stripped clean. Normally they have so many hanging they fall off on to the floor. People in line with cart fulls of ammo, along with a huge crowd all gathered around the AR rack. Salesman had open boxes of them all over the gun counter. Insane.
-
Take it from an arms dealer, gun sales are through the roof. I worked at the gun shop last Saturday and people were waiting over an hour to buy a gun. I didn't have to give a sales pitch because people were buying. About 30% of the people bought multiple guns. One guy dropped over 4 grand on 5 guns and ammo.
I had Sunday off but I heard it was just like Saturday. One sales guy who only worked weekends sold 30 guns.
Yesterday. Monday, was slightly less busy than Saturday. We now have a few bare spots on the wall where we once had AR's and AK's.
-
Broke the Black Friday record .
-
Was at my range last Wednesday for a class, walked in and the showroom was packed. Folks buying damn near everything they could get their hands on :o. I heard the sales guy tell folks there was a 6 hr. wait to get the CBI (Colo. Bureau of Investigations) clearance, that was at 1700 hrs., also heard the computers @ CBI shut down due to overload. The paper the next day said there where 4500 applications for guns that day (12/15/12). It's flipping crazy!
-
And probably half the a-holes buying guns didn't bother to go vote.
-
Or they voted D
-
Or they voted D
I still can't believe how many gun owners punched this idiots card.....TWICE.
-
Oh my lord, what a day! NICS was blocking calls and telling caller to hang up and try again later - then they would drop your call. God help you if you got kicked over for a secondary check. I had one where I waited 2 hours on hold. When I got through the customer was delayed.
We had some very high end guns like POF, Black Rain, Christensen Arms, LRWS all running between $2200 and $3500. All of them went. We have some DPMS, DelTon and AKs left. All of the modern rifles will be gone tomorrow. We also sold every lower we had in stock. All the AR mags are gone.
I lost count of my sales but I'd guess near $20 grand.
-
WOW ! And people are wondering why everything at Buds is "out of stock".
Heck, sounds like everything everywhere is out of stock or soon will be.
-
Word to the wise. At least at our shop, people have been so focused on rifles and mags they don't see thr next shoe to drop. The next rush will be standard capacity handgun mags over 10 rounds. Get to your local shop and get what you can. We are going to place a two mag limit on buyers. The owner has promised to sell at standard prices. We have stuff in the pipeline but we never anticipated this series of events.
-
Well somehow the boss found more inventory. I didn't have time to ask where it came from. The owner has 3 shops so it could have come from the other shops. In three sales I sold $13,000 worth of guns. One guy picked up 2 POF AR-10s. Another guy picked up the Bushmaster ACR. The other big sale was a guy picked up a Loaded Springfield 1911, an AR, AK, Ruger 10/22, and a Henry US Servival .22.
We had a bunch of DPMS Sporticals and various AKs. We told people we weren't able to do normal sales discussions. They were instructed that we had a limit of 2 ARs or AKs per person and to get them off the wall and get in line.
NICS was worse today. We would batch the 4473 forms and call in a dozen at a time. Then we would complete the sales and start the routine all over again. Most people would wait 2 hours to get their sale completed.
I'm not sure if we will get more inventory tomorrow but I open the shop tomorrow morning unless the end of the world comes. Pretty soon all we'll have are handguns and standard hunting rifles.
-
Oh, BTW, we have a used semi-auto Barrett used with scope for about $10 grand. PM me and I'll ask if we will ship it out. Shipping, handling and insurance extra.
I want to be the sales person just for bragging rights.
-
Any thoughts about how many of these buyers are pro-2A and actually worried about future legislation as opposed to those scheming to make a profit down the road?
-
The good news is, if they are still legal in a few years, there will be lots of these for sale super cheap.
-
It was my day off, but they sold 80 guns Wed, and I would be safe to say we equaled or exceeded that amount Thursday. Everybody that walked in bought a gun or they bought cases of ammo. Literally flying out the door. Like WatchMan said, everytime we tried to call NICS it was busy, so when one of us would finally get through, anybody that needed a check would pile all of them on the guy that got through. Sometimes was doing checks on 8 people at once. But, if you had a further review, you where really screwed because you would sit on hold for 30 minutes. It is crazy. AR 15s are selling like they are free. I was told the boss was there till Midnight Wed re-stocking guns, and the way it looked yesterday when I left, he probably will be doing the same.
-
Just went to the "localist" gun store, (there are 4 in the area, this one is walking distance )
Usually one or 2 guys behind the counter, might be another customer there, not always, decent selection of modern rifles .
8 other customers, 2 of the 3 guys behind the counter were on the phone.
No AK's 3 AR's an PTR91, and 2 SKS's, no extra mags, Wolf ammo, $15/ for 20 rounds. They even sold the Dragonov they've had for 3+ years.
I was there maybe 10 minutes saw 2 Glocks go in that time .
They're telling people whats on the shelf is what they can sell, some of the distributors are so backed up they don't even answer the phone any more.
-
Walked into 2 LGS today. Buying IWB holster and grips for the 1911. First one SOL. 3 deep at the counter. Counter slaves overwhelmed. Second, larger, better stocked, more counter slaves than the first, scored both items. NICS backed up 20+ minutes. Limit 2 boxes of .223/5.56, 250 rounds of any other. Majority of customers in both were women. Guys doing the normal Saturday gun store BS'ing were left to the clothing/accessory aisles.
-
Ran into one of the local store guys, what they had is gone, Bolt action, Lever, shotgun, but not a semi auto in the place.
-
We have sold almost every AR we had. All the AR mags are gone, all the AK mags are gone, all the lowers, most of the uppers. It is pure insanity.
-
We only had 3 ARs to sell today - one POF and two DPMS Sporticals. We have a boat load of AR15-22s and a handful of AKs and a few Saiga shotguns. The owner shut down any phone sales. We got a couple cases of Pmags selling for $30 each. He also suspended employee discounts. It was a little slower today.
-
Sounds like he's soaking the crazy people to cover expenses till he can restock.
-
How long before the sales of PVC pipe and end caps start running out
Over here back in 96. You could not get any.....

Anyone buying for an attempt at a big payday down the road is taking a big chance. In 2009 after the big Hussein scare didn't pan out, prices plummetted on this stuff. It will be worse this time. You don't buy anything high in an attempt to sell higher. They tried that with housing and look at what happened. Like anything, when everyone is running to buy is when you should be selling.
Where were all of these Silver hoarders and "preppers" when no one wanted it at $16.00 an ounce just a couple of years ago? Now they're jumping up and down for it at $32.00. It will be the same here. You have to look at what took place to change this. One guy with one gun and a large body count. We've had them before, and we'll most likely have them again. I remember when Charles Whitman went to work in the Texas U. Observation Tower back in 1966. And a lot has taken place since then. Granted we've become more prone to socialism now than we were then, simply because we're dumber as a nation. This kind of nonsense proves it. You didn't see it before the Dodd Bill passed. People weren't, "running to buy to get in before the paperwork".
I'm not saying an AWB won't be brought up, or perhaps even possibly come into law. But I didn't know sheep could run this fast! Especially when they could have walked just 2 weeks ago and got off 3 times cheaper.
-
Wolf ammo, $15/ for 20 rounds.
Jesus H. Christ ! ::)
-
I went into the local Sportsman's Warehouse over the weekend. The gun department looked like a post-Katrina Walmart. Lots of bolt-action rifles and shotguns to be had, but no handguns or "assault rifles" to be seen. The ammo shelves were bare of all but shot shells.
-
Jesus H. Christ ! ::)
Yeah.
Well it was never exactly a "discount" store to begin with .
When every one else was getting $4.50 for Wolf 7.62X 39 he was getting $7.50.
-
Found this on the local Armslist.com. ;D
I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have at least one serious inquiry.
http://www.armslist.com/posts/747643/denver-colorado-rifles-for-sale-trade--rock-river-ar-15 (http://www.armslist.com/posts/747643/denver-colorado-rifles-for-sale-trade--rock-river-ar-15)
Rock River AR-15, asking $10,000 If you are stupid enough to be paying $2000-$4000 for an AR-15 then you might just be stupid enough to buy mine for $10,000. For $1000 more Ill throw in 1 Magpul 30 round magazine, the government is taking all these away too, so there's none left, anywhere. You'll have to have a Law Enforcement Permit to have these after today.
If you ass-clowns think Big Brother is going to send assault teams door to door and take away everything but Derringers, well then your probably right, it's going to be just like the "Assault Weapons Round-up" that happened after Columbine in 1999, and after Red Lake Senior High School in 2005, and after Virginia Tech in 2007, and after NIU in 2008, or Ft. Hood in 2009, and Aurora in July.
For Trades I will only accept ICBM's, Abrams Tanks, a decommissioned space shuttle, or hectares of land to build my Doomsday bunker. AH SHIT, 12-21-12 already passed, well then I'm "prepping" one for December 31, 2099, that's when its going to end, for sure, Confucius told me so when we were watching the reelection of Obama together.
Email works best, NSA has tapped my phone, and satellites are watching my every move. I can access my Email from Kinkos, so they'll never know.
Remember you cant get AR15s after today, or maybe tomorrow, or was it last week, either way, they're rare, and aren't made anymore.
-
Well, he's right about one thing.
They are not made any more, and never will be again.
At least not until the Christmas shut downs are over.
Hey, the calendar ends on Dec 31st, must mean the world does too. ;D

I was in the LGS today and the EBR rack was bare. Large gaps in the handgun display cases. Piles and piles of boxed guns behind the counters. I asked if that was the NICS backlog and was told that they are telling customers that they could be waiting 4 -5 DAYS for the background check to clear. Un-fricking-real.
-
Just an update as to the Gun Rush before the fall? In Colorado there are over 10,000 folks waiting to get cleared by CBI in order to p/u their new guns. They said it's an 8 - 10 day wait :o Normally it's anywhere from 30 mins., an hour tops on a busy day. Any others from the other 49 states experiencing this craze?
-
Checks were quick today for our shop but if you get assigned "further review" afternoon waits were 45 minutes. In a couple of cases I was given a direct number to call. The primary NICS center couldn't transfer to the second level review. So they would either give you the direct number or just delay the transaction.

OK, here is the explanation on a four or five day wait for NICS. NICS can delay for only 3 (business) days, period. So lets say you come into my shop tomorrow (Friday) and I do your paperwork and I receive a delay on your transaction. Friday is day zero, Saturday and Sunday are not business days. Monday is day one. Tuesday is a holiday so it doesn't count. Wednesday is day two and Thursday is day three. So, if NICS doesn't call back I can legally sell you the gun on Friday, Jan. 4. That is how the system works.

Isn't it time we stopped the NICS Slowdown Loophole?

Unless you buy from the CMP. If you get "DELAYED" with them, it's as good as "DENIED".

It is the shear volume of applications that are swamping the system. The Colorado NICS system has crashed several time because of it.
This article is from the beginning of the madness.
http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22208917/colorado-gun-background-checks-break-records (http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22208917/colorado-gun-background-checks-break-records)
The surge after the massacre surprised CBI officials, who said the office wasn't adequately staffed to deal with demand. The situation soon created a backlog and increasingly long wait times for potential gun buyers waiting for check results.
So many background checks were submitted the process that normally usually takes minutes turned into wait times of more than 15 hours.
"We had to call in extra staff," Medina said. "The wait times were high."
-

True. If you look at the bulk of the crashes and failures of the NICS, (they do happen quite frequently), they occur on weekends when gun show traffic, and new gun sales are at their highest volume. It's always been an electronically fragile system that needs much improvement.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=323544149
WASR 10's selling for $1,625.00. Don't people have any financial common sense? Most likely the same guy who "couldn't afford one" last month.
-
Stopped by my local GS yesterday and they have bare shelves! They told me they sold their last 2 lowers for $700 each! They seemed tired of the panic even though they have sold everything they can. Made the comment that they could have charged even more and still sold them.
It is funny how folks have time to panic but can't change the politics of this by voting!
-
One local gun shop was closed today, not sure why, maybe for a long holiday weekend. They have been extremely busy lately and didn't have much left in stock other than "hunter" type firearms.
Forgot to add that another place had a 20 gauge Saiga left and a used Mini 14 for $720 two days ago, Told him i was surprised he still had the Mini and informed him what they were selling for on Gunbroker. I think he was going to list it there.
-

Yup - it's funny yet very sad when you think about it :'(
Haven't had time to check out my local shops but paper said that their are now over 11,000 CBI background checks waiting for clearance, they are asking the state for more $$$ to add more people to their staff to get the log jam cleared. Said part of the problem is the FBI's site is only up 6 hrs. of the day. Craziness, the news has shown pics of people showing off their new AR's by the Christmas tree.
-
CO is experiencing a melt down of the system and a 7 day wait for 4473s to clear.
http://www.9news.com/news/article/307389/222/CBI-wants-500K-to-handle-gun-background-checks (http://www.9news.com/news/article/307389/222/CBI-wants-500K-to-handle-gun-background-checks)
The wait time now has stretched to nearly seven days as the CBI struggles with the backlog of more than 11,000 applications.

This is enough to make the most fearless liberal think twice about voting "YEA" for anything that Feinstein puts out there. Getting this thing passed is going to be like trying to sell a glass of water to a drowning man.

I've been waiting to use this...

>>>>>>> NEWS ALERT<<<<<<<<
Due to unprecedented demand, the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) has suffered a catastrophic systems failure. All available resources are being diverted to repair this resource necessary for purchasing any firearm in America. We apologize for any inconvenience this service disruption represents, however, all firearm purchases are suspended until further notice.
P.S.
Just making sure everyone understands... this is NOT a real news announcement.
-
Buddy just got his CCW. Bought a Glock at an elevated price. Yesterday he decided he needed some extra mags. Local GS sold him the last 2 at $50 each.
Sheesh,
Crusader

I haven't visited a gun store in some months. I suspect, though we aren't allowed to purchase until we're licensed, it's probably much the same as the rest of the country. I called my FFL looking for a 9mm M&P Shield last week and he said it's on severe backorder and he has no idea when he'll get any!
Not in the market for an AR but I may pick up a lever action and a .22 plinker just because. Even my wife mentioned I'd better not wait too long...
-
Just logged in to Classic arms and got this
Due to extremely high order volume, we are experiencing long delays in processing/shipping orders. Please expect and allow 8 - 14 business days for your order to leave our building. We have doubled our shipping staff and are working nights in an effort to process orders as quickly as possible.
We have turned off our phones from accepting in-bound calls so we may focus on processing/shipping orders. This was a tough decision, but one we truly believe will best serve our customers. If necessary to contact us, please do do via email though the Contact Us page on our site. Please only send us an email if absolutely necessary as we are receiving hundreds per day and these take our time away from processing orders. However, we will respond to every email we receive.
We are still accepting orders though our website for those who are accepting of the delays in receiving your orders.
NOTE: Your card will be charged at the time you place your order. We realize this is not ideal when there are long delays in processing, but that is the way our software works at this time. If this is not acceptable, please do not place an order with us during this time of record volume.
We value you as a customer and appreciate your understanding.

This is enough to make the most fearless liberal think twice about voting "YEA" for anything that Feinstein puts out there. Getting this thing passed is going to be like trying to sell a glass of water to a drowning man.
And if only we could get the voting frenzy up and running as fast as gun buying frenzy.
If every panicky jackass that willingly pays $100 for a Ruger Mini-14 magazine, or $1000 for a used Mini-14, or $2000 for an AR that was $750 two weeks ago, would register to vote.......contact Senators and Rep's....... and than actually vote the assclowns out of office, showing they mean business.........we could roll back every bit of asinine gun legislation since 1934.

I think just the fear these politicians have of these millions of gun buyers voting out any Senator or Congressman who votes for a ban, is going to have a huge effect, regardless if they actually vote or not. This is unprecedented in the history of gun ownership. The first go around after Hussein's coronation in 2008 was taken as somewhat of a fluke, and as premature and unnecessary panic by many politicians. Many liberals were seen in news soundbites laughing about it. They're not laughing now.
These guys know if thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people are willing to pay $2,000.00+ for an AR-15, in the worst economy since the Great Depression, they sure as hell aren't going to vote for someone who is hell bent on taking it away from them. Or else be so warm and willing to hand it over to the first person who knocks on their door. Think Feinstein's "New And Improved" AWB, then visualize that little tornado that forms at the bathtub drain.

Let us hope.

I went to the other 2 local gun stores today.
The Range was well stocked with everything, prices were high though, Remington R-1 Blued, $1000, Plain Stag flat top $1800 . Being a range they always have ammo , didn't check brands, or prices .
The other place is the smallest of the area, Remington R-1 Stainless, $850, he had 2 AR Carbines and 1 plain AK $1200 each, has 30 P -Mags on order, due in Thursday Tula, 45ACP 500 round case for $200, plenty of everything else except .223 .
-
Around here anything 556/223 is gone, AR, mini 14,ammo. Ak's are double the value. I had to look around to find a the 308 I wanted. Plenty of bolt actions, pistols are hit and miss depending on make and model. My goto guy for ammo has been stocking up for a while so he has plenty of rifle ammo. About the only pistol ammo I buy is 9mm, everything else I reload.
-
Might want to stock up on components .
Especially primers, they seemed to be the thing that ran short with the last surge.
-

We got 12 ARs in today. 8 Colts and 1 Bushmasters. They went up on the wall just after noon today and all were sold by 4:30. We also started the day with a case of metal AR mags and all were gone by 2:30.
People have not figured out that semi-auto shoot guns are on the "evil" list.

The other possibility is that they plan on using them as the Founders intended.
To get rid of the "evil list", and the subversives who are writing it up.
-
I guess my point was that semi-auto shotguns have not been selling yet they are on the "evil" list of guns just like ARs.

Sorry, the spelling error threw me off . ;D
