Title: Cheaper Than Dirt caves also
Post by: PegLeg45 on December 18, 2012, 12:49:44 PM
Greedy, price gouging bastards are caving to liberal pressure also.

Their message on both FB and twitter:

Quote
Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories.

Like I posted in another thread, I quit CTD years ago for high price fluctuations and gouging.... they'll never get another dime from me.

They didn't cave, they're profiteering! You can now buy a P-mag at the low price of $59 a pop (no, that wasn't a typo). Screw them. If they offered them for $5 I wouldn't buy.

Suspending online sales of firearms is caving to liberal pressure..... just like Dick's (aptly named, apparently).

I stoped buying from them when Obama got elected the first time and they where charging obscene prices.  Screw them.  They can keep their junk.

I just read that Academy Sports is pulling AR's off the racks also.

The thing to do is email the vendors who deal and supply CTD....such as Magpul Industries...... asking companies to bail on CTD, just like they did with advertising with the magazine article fiasco a few months back.

Butt-holes have cut the price in half.....which is still about 60% too much.

You can buy Gen 2 Magpuls for $10-12. That makes these about 250% too high.

I too quit Pricier than Platinum back in Ought Eight (always wanted to say that!!  ;D ) after they started price gouging anything firearm. The still send me their catalogs, which go straight into the trash. They can - and most likely do - suck bilgewater.

So they stop selling firearms?  They were afraid to do background checks or hated sending firearms to a FFL dealer?  Too much paperwork or something?   What a crock.  I guess they are afraid that something they sold would be used in a crime.  I wonder if they will stop selling magazines 10 round or 30 rounds, etc in case it is found that it was sold thru their online store.   They mine as well stop selling everything.   I was actually going to buy something from them, I will spend a few bucks more elsewhere that actually supports shooters.

Every time I looked at a firearm on their website it was "Out of Stock". It's easy to look like you're doing something when you can't actually do what you say you are ceasing doing. (Does that make sense?).

I'll most likely get banned for it. (Like I care), But I started a thread about it on their forum. Here is the link:

Just sent them an email requesting my name and email be removed from their data bank.  I also asked them to stop sending me their catalog.  I will not support any business that caves on supporting the Second Amendment.  My little bit of business may make no difference to them.  But enough "little bits" will certainly hurt.

Please remove my name and information from your advertising data base.
I do not wish to do business with a company that responds to a mental health issue by ineffective grandstanding to the anti gun lobby.

Ok CTD here it is. Give all money you have made off selling guns and donate It the NRA or organization that is committed to helping otherwise all you have done is make money in a way you think is immoral from gun owners. Take that money and put it where you mouth is.

Thanks for the math lesson, Path!!  ;D  ;D

You're right....

*I just had a lot of personal medical stuff going on the last few days, amongst other things, and just wasn't figgerin' right.  ;)   ;D

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Call them up and go on a (lenghthy) rant. It ties up their phone lines and they're paying for the call. But then they can afford it with all those $40 P-mags they MUST be selling. ::) >:(

PS You can still find them in the $12-$15 range from reputable dealers. We just need not to panic. As long as we keep our heads and punish people like CTD and shop at reputable dealers we'll be fine. If we panic, its like a stock market crash where a herd mentality takes over, and good companies get trashed along with the mismanaged ones and everyone loses.

People have already panicked....... every store in a 30 mile radius from me is out of ammo in almost every caliber from .22lr to 7mm Mag.

It looks like they well and truly shot their foot off.
Perhaps it's best that they not handle firearms after all..

I guess they'll have to stop sponsoring American Rifleman on The Outdoor Channel, too?

Got an email from them with the big banner shown above.

Used it to cancel my subscription.   I think they will get the message it's a bit late make amends.

I did the exact same thing.

I love it. I still will never buy anything from them. But I think they got the message and quick. This is the most I've ever seen our kind band together. I have seen a few floaters and some making bad choices in the way they have said things like "military's type weapons when talking about ARs. Some have even been willing to say they are gun people but see no reason for ARs. But on a majority what I have seen is great. Buds is done too. If you turn your back on us after all the money we have given you then be prepared to lose a lot more than you ever made.

Dicks should change there name to sporting goods in only sports they recognize. I just hope enough will stop going there for the other things they buy.

If we stay together and move as a whole. We can crush the vocal minority.

I have seen nothing to condemn Bud's for...unless I've missed some update...   From what I have seen they most likely just sold out....like the notice says.
