Did a quick check this morning. Every single centerfire semi-automatic rifle at Buds just happens to be "out of stock".
The ugly truth is now being revealed. Apparently many vendor's support of our 2nd Amendment rights goes only so far as their concern for their media image allows. They love our money, but when the chips are down, they fail our culture, miserably.
From now on, I'm buying ammo and supplies only from Brownells and Midway, and guns from my local pro-2nd Amendment gun shop.

Could be that they sold them all ;)
I have heard a lot of good about Bud's and when I've gone looking for something there are times they didn't have much in stock.

This.
I waited too long to finish my build and every place is out of stock. Del-ton, PSA . . . everywhere is out of stock. I called Del-ton and they said "indefinite back order". I was lucky enough to get the BCG I need yesterday at PSA when a small quantity were available. Even the manufacturers like DPMS have big notices on their websites that the factories simply can not keep up with demand.
If nothing else, I think this sends a huge message to the dickwads in DC that we aren't going to go quietly.
-
Hmm, maybe they truly are out of stock based on a huge demand. I just find it strange that I didn't find a single semi-auto centerfire, not just "black" sporting rifles, that was in stock. If they are truly out of stock, I publicly apologize to Buds.

I think BBJohnny may be misinterpreting the status at Bud's Gun Shop. I have two orders in with them: one is a Savage .22 LR bolt gun, and the other is a Glock 20 SF. I ordered the Glock after the shooting, and I have not seen any indications on their web site or through e-mail they are not selling guns. I believe what we are seeing here is the fallout from the shootings, plus it is the holidays.
I do fear that that days of doing this kind of thing at Bud's may be short....Buy while you can.
-
Hell I can't even get into thier website, but it may be the computer at work. It does goofy things with Flash and they refuse to update IE to the latest so it may be screwing it up.

Just to clarify, Buds does have .22 semi-auto rifles in stock, but not a single centerfire semi-auto rifle. I didn't check the stock of any pistols.

I suspect they're flat sold out and their web site is about to melt down with the stampeed

Gun sales broke all time records on Black Friday.
Even the MSM has been reporting that those records were shattered last week end.
It is most likely that Bud's is sold out since things are simply out of stock with out any teary eyed grandstanding.
-
I can all but guarantee you they are sold out of everything, and this has nothing what so ever to do with them volunteering to suspend sales. Guns are pretty much all they sell, unlike "Cheaper Than Dirt" and "Dick's" who sell everything under the Sun. There is a lot of over reacting going on here, based on zero facts.
-
I'm leaning towards them actually being out.
I went onto MidwayUSA earlier and almost all Glock and Sig mags were out of stock. Only the "baby" Glocks, G23, and 1911 mags were left. I can't get back in now, probably the browser again. I'll check from home. The other half authorized magazine purchases "for Christmas." ;D (I was trying for an M1A)

Isn't it ironic that the firearms used by these nuts are the ones that sell out ?
It's as if the public reaction is "Well, he could have stolen any gun on the market, he must have picked these for a reason."
It seems that they think a homicidal maniac must have some special "professional" knowledge they're not privy to.

This was an update from a local area gun store / outfitter:
Good morning All...
Over the last couple of days we have seen several retailers pull AR-15s from their listings. One company sold off its holding in a AR-15 company, while another retailer went as far as to stop selling firearms until "they review their policies". Seems to be some are afraid of standing for what they believe in due to possibly losing a dollar but will standing for the 2nd Amendment when they can make a buck off of it. We have and will continue to carry AR-15s and many, many other types of sport rifles, hunting rifles, handguns and shotguns.
We proudly support the 2nd Amendment.
We have AR-15s on order, as does everyone. All sold quickly in the last two days.
Will let you know as soon as we get them.

I think you're over reacting a little bit. I had been watching Bud's site most of the weekend and their stock of semi auto rifles especially the AR stuff, went down steadily. Each time I checked back there were a couple less in stock. I believe they probably just sold out with all the spree buying.
The main thing we all need to be thinking about is the legislative battle they are readying for us and be ready to keep on our legislators.

My very small neighborhood gun shop has a number of ARs in stock and for sale at their normal prices. They has just gotten them in. They also have a small shipment coming from Rock River tomorrow. About a year ago he started order a number of guns every week to keep the pipe filled so to speak. They have been especially busy since the election ans swamped every day since Sandy Hook. I was there at closing one evening before the mass murder when he bought a used Rock River carbine at the end of the day. He sold it the next morning in the first hour for $200 more than what he paid for it. Since SH he has taken in no used handguns and passed on the few long guns that people wanted to sell. The fodder he was offered were a high end Weatherby 300 magnum and non descript battered pump shotguns that he has plenty of.
Another small area shop had their best month ever in November. He is normally closed on Wednesdays, but was open the day after the election and did a robust business that day from customers that stepped by his way out of the way shop just in case he was open. Haven't had a chance to stop by since Newtown yet to see how things are going.

I made the rounds of several local gun shops in the Largo, Clearwater, St. Petersburg area and every one of them was either sold out, or had just one or two black rifles left. The one I noted was an AR with wood furniture going for a very high price. I wasn't surprised to see it remains for sale.
But, this leads me to believe that Bud's is in the same predicament--you can't sell what you don't have. With demand at an all-time high, it's tough for Bud's or anyone else to even give a firm time line on availability.
Ammo is also going fast and increasing in price due to scarcity. If you are low on anything, it would be wise to get it quickly, or plan to wait until the frenzy dies down.

This is 2008 redux to the tenth power. After Hussein's coronation, the shelves were stripped bare for over 9 months. Anything that was for sale was sold at ridiculous prices. I won't even attempt to visit a gun shop or Cabela's until well after the first of the year. When I do I'm not expecting to find very much left on the shelves. They'll be picked clean.
-
I'm in the market for the 686 SSR revolver. A high end, Pro Shop model. Probably won't be subject to any of the bans. Certainly a limited (IDPA/ICORE) market and they're out of stock everywhere. Buds and all the low cost retailers. My local brick and mortar has one but almost at MSRP.
I don't think Bud's is withholding anything. All gun retailers are just swamped right now.
-
;D Standing room only at Bass Pro gun counter last night. STACKS of form 4473 approvals.
-
Davidson's website has been sluggish for days now. Zero of anything from Bushmaster, DPMS, or Colt. They were sold out within hours. Again the same thing happened in 2008, just not as fast.
-
On a side note, I found it amuzing that last night I went to gunbroker and the flash ads were all Bloomie's "I demand Obama..." ads. I was tempted to go to it and register with a:
"I demand that Obama, Fienstien, and Bloomberg recognize that taking a law abiding citizen's ability to purchase a firearm does nothing to stop a criminal to acquire one, it only increases that citizens chances of being a victim of a violent attack, gun or no gun, and that limiting a person's right to self defense has been struck down by the Supreme Court no less than three times in the last few years."

Hazcat and I went to a local FFL this afternoon to pick-up an S&W .38 Special. It's a small shop that sort of caters to black rifle types and such, but they give a good price on transfers.
When we got there to pick-up, we found the counter girl on the phone trying to get sales clearance for the 4 people ahead of us. She said she'd been holding for half-an-hour. She added our paperwork to the pile and then added two more before she actually got a chance to talk to anybody.
Gal who runs the show said she was ready to close the doors because of the intensity of activity. It was driving her nuts.
We saw at least 5 weapons go out the door in the 30 minutes we were in line.
Went from there to another favorite gun shop where I got the last two boxes of Fiocchi .357 mag JHP for a discounted price on account of I am such a good guy and a great person to know.
My conclusion is gun shops are being overrun with the volume of activity. Probably Bud's is in worse shape because of their normally high volume being exceeded by such a large margin.
The times they are a-crazy, boys. Keep your powder dry and your loved ones close. This could be a ridiculous ride.
And, if the end does come tomorrow, it's been a privilege to share some time with each and every one of you.
Regards,
Crusader

I think Buds is fine, just covered up..
There's a new place that belongs to a guy up the road.
I discovered it a couple of weeks ago and look as I pass by. He doesn't advertise. Never been more than 2 or 3 cars in the parking lot. I passed by yesterday and the lot was completely full. He doesn't have a hundred firearms in the whole place.. I bet he's getting those high Alabama prices now!!
