Title: Truth of Israeli gun rights
Post by: Ulmus on December 19, 2012, 07:12:06 PM
Evidently they are not rights, but privledges.   :(

From the Jerusalem Post:

“There is an essential difference between the two. In America the right to bear arms is written in the law, here it’s the opposite... only those who have a license can bear arms and not everyone can get a license.” - Yaakov Amit, the head of the Public Security Ministry’s Firearms Licensing Department.

Israel is a mixed bag.  8)

They populous is skilled with firearms due to the large number of IDF members and veterans.

We all love seeing those college aged kids with M4's slung over their shoulders, BUT

Israel has recently cut back on gun permits including removing  permits for people who must carry cash, gold or diamonds for work.

The danger is terrorism not crime.  Closing the border has changed the current terror attack from guns, knives and bomb vests to

rockets for the most part.

Israel is more like a New York or California that "gets it" than a Utah or Missouri that "owns it".

Utah - Teaching certificate + CCW certificate = Truly Safe Schools

Missouri - School carry with district "PERMISSION"  Several bills were pre-filed in the legislature to let us civilian trained sheep
dogs and doggettes be prepared in the "gravest extreme".

The DIFFICULT TRUTH is is that if people who can defend themselves are ambushed we loose about 3, at GUN FREE KILL ZONES
we loose about 25.  The Libbies won't like these numbers but they have always had problems with REALITY AND
              FACTS.

I love Israel, because the Lord loves Israel, and you cant' help but like a bunch of folks who stand firm in the face of odds like they do every day..
It's true though. Israel isn't a place where the average "Israeli on the street" is likely to be armed at that moment..
The Swiss are the same way. They're issued a rifle and ammo but they don't get to use either without strictly regulated permission.
We're still more blessed than anyplace else on Earth in this respect..
Somehow or another, we're gonna have to figure out how to keep it that way.. If for no other reason than to try to keep from having to die trying..  :(

:D  My great-great-grandfather's picture in his Swiss military uniform and monthly military training records book are treasured family
      heirlooms.

That said, grandfather said "if we had money we would have stayed".
