Title: I'm a NRA member!!!
Post by: Ksail101 on December 22, 2012, 11:25:07 AM
WooHOO!!!!

I have never been one before for some reason. But in the wake of all that has gone on I felt this is the time. And I had to get on here just to brag and say hello to any of my fellow members.

Email Received:

Thank you for joining the NRA.  We appreciate your interest in protecting and preserving our Second Amendment rights and promoting safe, responsible gun ownership.

Your credit card will be billed for $35.00* for a 1 Year Membership in the National Rifle Association with "American Rifleman" as your magazine choice.

If you have any questions regarding your order, please email us at membership@nrahq.org.  Or you may call our Toll Free Membership Account Information Hotline at 1-877-NRA-2000.

Thanks again for your interest in the National Rifle Association!

Thanks for joining!

All gun owners, whether they're members or not, will benefit from your participation.  Don't forget to sign-up for their various newsletters and email alerts... especially those from the Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA).

Ksail, welcome aboard. Sooner or later we are going to need a unified effort to sustain the 2A. Many will argue that the time is now. I don't disagree.

Also, you can go to the Shooting USA web page and join and get $10 knocked off the price. The NRA can use the full price of course, but if money is an issue right now it'll help both parties.

(and yes, I know Scoutten works for another shooting show the we've had issues on here with, but now is the time to band together as one unit and set aside petty squabbles)

Good move K!!!  It's something we all have to do to stay in the fight. We have no one but each other to help, so the more the merrier.

Thank you Ksail!  And, thank you for doing it in a manor that gives the full $35 to the NRA.

I won't fault recruiters (people like you and me) who accept the $10 from NRA for each membership they sign up, and I understand there are a group in the market that will only be reached or need the $10 from NRA when they sign up with people like Shooting USA, but the more that do it direct with the NRA or with recruiters who don't accept the commission the better!

Thanks again!

Now, please don't be a member who answers a survey with the words "I'm a member, but they don't reflect my view."

To clarify, I hope, like M58, that everyone will give the full amount also.....

I just posted to offer those that might be on a financial fence an option. Ten buck isn't much, but for some folks at this time of year it can be.

I renewed and took advantage of the 40 payment plan for my Life Membership!  I've been meaning to do it for a few years so now seemed like an appropriate time!

Where I live, donating money to GOAL and the NRA is about all I can do.  My state reps, governor and congresscritters no longer reply to my correspondence any more.  Scott Brown is gone, not that he really mattered much but at least he tried to be right of center on occasion!

I've had emails in the past from USA Carry that said I could join the NRA for $10 off. I just checked their site and when you click on "Join NRA" it goes directly to the NRA.

The NRA site is only 25 bucks at the moment, 50 for two years, 75 for three and 125 for five.

That is great that the NRA is doing the deal right now.  However, recruiters paperwork is still at $35.  If they accept the commission they can discount it the $10.  However I can not discount, because my agreement is that I do not take the commission.

If you sign up on line and have the financial ability to pay the full amount, I encourage you to enjoy the discounted price and then to make an additional donation to the NRA as well.  Their departments run separate from each other, so money from the Foundation (which includes Friends), Membership, and Political brought in is segregated and used accordingly.  It is a complex system, but to operate their overall organization and retail side, and to keep their 501C3 for the foundation, and to be able to lobby each area must be cleanly separate.  I can not offer memberships at Friends banquets or any situation where we are promoting Friends.

So I did it off the NRA website this morning. This is the link to the page that I did it off of. It was $35 and yes money is never in abundance but I thought that with all the crap that I waste money on during the year I thought that I could afford this. And I will re-up next year for a longer term and try not to do it right around xmas, or plan on it so when the renewal notice comes I have some extra cash.

I'm happy knowing that there are so many people here that are members. Congratulations to all. I signed up for life ages ago then signed up as a Benefactor when they had a special deal. I wouldn't have done it at the regular price, but it's nice knowing I never have to pay dues again.

I did the "easy pay" Life member thing back in the 90's. I had been an annual member for many years and at the time, the only way to bump up was when they offered it in quarterly installment payments. I still throw random donations their way from time to time.
I have been thinking about bumping up to the Benefactor level just because.

I don't always agree with the angle of attack the NRA uses, but it's kind of like voting..... being a member gives a more legitimate right to gripe about the way they do things than being a non-member.
