Title: Castle nut
Post by: Bailey0117 on December 28, 2012, 04:22:37 PM
Can anyone tell me if I need to change my castle nut if I change from a commercial extension tube to a mil-spec tube?

This helps explain it. The thread size is the same because the lowers are all threaded the same to accept them. The size difference is in the tube itself where it accepts the stock. You must have a Commercial stock to fit a commercial buffer tube, and Mil-Spec for a Mil-Spec tube.

What billt posted is correct here's just the diff.

The castle nut is the same. But have the stock match the tube. That is the difference.

Make sure you get the Carbine specific spring and buffer as well .
The rifle size of either will not work.
Trust me on this.
