I'm looking for a good IWB holster for my Ruger SR9. Does anyone have any suggestions? Preferences?
-
what is the purpose of the holster? Are you looking for competition, utility or concealed?
-
http://www.gunnersalley.com/product/H715 I own several , great holsters.

Concealment for sporadic carry. I guess it would be pertinent to mention that I'm a pretty big guy---6'3, 240 lbs.
-
Take a look here. They are supposed to be really comfortable.

Finally! My long lost twin!!! Except those bench presses? I stopped doing them and now I'm 280.

Haha! That's what Southern cookin' will do for you---I don't get around to do too many bench presses, but I do as much recreational jujitsu and wrestling as I can. What are your thoughts on shoulder holsters for big fellas?

I'm in NJ and basically CANNOT carry...but I've found that IWB works pretty well. i don't understand how "big" guys can't conceal so well. My SLOBSHADE hides a friggin' 1911 in my IWB. I always though if I could get it to hang under my manchest, the vert or horiz shoulder carry would be great.

Well I just hope you didn't take advantage of that weapon buy back program the township was running. Such a deal!

What a joke! I couldn't tell from the newspaper photo what they got, but I'm sure they picked up a bunch of crap that wasn't worth any money. Great place to dump your worthless or broken guns.
Sadly, I don't think any of the criminal types sold THEIR guns to the township.

Check out the "Fist" website they have something for everyone.
Richard
PS: I'm a big guy 245 (getting smaller) and short 5'81/2 and because of body configuration can't wear IWB holster.
-
"Fist" website? I guess I don't exactly know what you are talking about...
-
Fist holsters. Sorry. Just type in Fist Inc. and that should get you there.

Wow, I really like those Fist holsters! I'm leaning towards the #43 BELT SLIDE AND IWB CLIP, that is of course if they can make one for the SR9! :D
-
Their e-mail address is fist98@aol.com and they have an 800# on the bottom of their home page. They probably can make just about anything you want.

Does anyone have any experience with Galco "Southern Comfort," "NSA II," or "Royal Guard." I'm looking for an IWB for my 1911 Gov.
I have a Galco Yaqui that I really like around the yard, but it's hard to hide the muzzle.
P.S.
Reading this thread I think it's time to start a "Man of Substance Club." The closer to fifty I get, the softer and lower my chest gets ... who needs Sir Isaac Newton to tell us about gravity? :'( I'll admit to being 6'1" and 285.

Check out Comp-Tac:

Great product; great price; highly recommended!

Well I am 285 and 5'9" and i can tell you that i picked up a cheap ($5 or so) IWB when I got my CCH (KS) and carry a cocked and locked Star 9mm. It does an okay job but I am going to be switching to a Taurus Miliniun .45 and will be getting a formed leather IWB. It is quite difficult to quickly reholster my weapon since th nylon cruples up and my man handles land where they wish. A belly band may be a viable option.

I would add the following comments to several of the above posts.
1. Comp-Tac great holster can’t go wrong.
2. Any holster that attaches to your belt/pants you must be able to re-holster the gun with one hand.
3. "The mark of a professional is to holster your gun with out looking at the holster". Mas Ayoob LFI
4. The first level of gun retention is awareness the second is your holster if the bad guy grabs for your gun and you holster lets go your screwed.

I've been using a Crossbreed Supertuck daily for about two months now. HIGHLY recommended. Extremely comfortable, sitting or standing. Conceals great.
The ONLY thing I needed to do was modify the kydex at the mouth of the holster by the trigger guard. My middle finger couldn't get a good placement on the grip for my draw, so I VERY carefully shaved it down a little. I've got pics somewhere, if anyone would like to see them.
Very comfortable. Very concealable. Very reasonably priced. You don't have to wait 18 months to get one.

I'd suggest AGAINST "sporadic carry". Unless you carry another weapon on the days you're not feeling "sporadic", your weapon becomes a "leftit" gun. Leftit in the car, leftit at home, etc. Murphy's Law states that the one time you'll NEED your gun is the one time you "leftit" somewhere other than on your person!!

Hi guy's I found that the BLACKHAWK for glock 17 works well for concelment carry they come with belt loop or paddle ,it stays snug to your waist, and also rides somewhat higher then most holsters... It may be a little tight at first but works in quickly, I really like mine. cost around 35.00 - 40.00 not bad for a poly holster....

i have a galco cop 3 slot never used that will work with the sr9,has the ruger logo embossed on the front that i bought from the ruger website.i no longer need it,i bought it before i had the gun, then because of the wait i bought another pistol.id like to sell it,paid 62 for it,id like to get 50.its a quality leather belt holster.

I wound up purchasing a leather Don Hume holster for the SR9. It was actually designed to fit a H&K USP, but fits the SR9 like a glove. Go figure! It is all that I could ask for and I got it for $30!
