Title: Running a triathlon.
Post by: TAB on January 01, 2013, 03:20:23 AM
So I made up my mind a few days ago.   I will be running the sacramento triathlon on june 30 2013.  It is a 1500m(just under a mile) swim, 40k bike(25 miles) and 10k run(6.2)     I have been kind of lost lately and am looking to find myself again. There is a place that is either deep inside or way out side.  I don't know, but I have been there, taken others there, I want to go back.  I am doing this as a challenge to myself.  I will be training 6 days a week 2 days for each sport and some minor strength training  inter mixed.  Fallowed by a day of rest.  All while still training in judo and coaching wrestling.   I will start off at about 1/3 distances and work up at  10-20% a week until I reach full distance.  Then I will start chaining events.  You get the idea.    I am debating on starting a blog or social media on this... I have a few people that are intrested in sponsoring me ( for charity) as well as a pull on finish times.  I will keep you posted.    already completed my 1st 2.5 mile run.  :)

Tab, you're a better man than I. At my age, reorganizing my gun safe is too much to attempt in one day!

Yeah, well, when your gun safe has a walk-out basement that can take awhile.    :o

Sounds like a plan, ,TAB...and a workable goal.

If you have time, don't stop your training in each event till you go many 10% past the full distance.  Do that as your limit and you will have extra to give for the event.

If you do a blog or online tracking of your progress, post it.

While we're here, did you make any progress with your shooting for blind folks project?

Take care.

One person recomended using twitter others have said face book.  I don't have either, so  who knows.  Wordpress is also a option.   it all depends on how much time I want to spend on things other then training.    I doubt I would get much of a following on them.  If I want to do it to raise money for a cuase I might, but this is really just about me at this point.

Nothing wrong starting the year off with a PT schedule, and a summertime goal for you.

Keep your diet in tune with your workouts, and best of luck going forward.
