Only real benefits I see is the cheaper ammo and the resolution of feeding issues by using AK mags in an AR.

inexpensive .30 cal for more oomph than .223, plus somewhat less expensive mags .
Down side is you lose the ability to change calibers by changing uppers, and you lose the AR's "drop free" mag feature.

AK ammo is not "cheap" anymore. :'( Although it is "cheaper" but not by much anymore. The LAR's probably are getting "up there" also.
Anywhere between .37 cents a rd. (per 1000 only). up to .80 cents + for smaller amounts.
Looks like a great package though.

A few places still have 7.62x39 ammo for a reasonable amount. (Cabela's in Buda had plenty last weekend) although you were limited to 10 boxes @ $6.99 a box for their house brand (Herter's).

On the plus side the Herter's is probably brass cased .

No the Herter's is steel cased.
