Title: Quote Of The Day, From (Ret.) Gen. McChrystal
Post by: twyacht on January 08, 2013, 07:28:42 PM
Good for me but not for thee applies.....

http://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2013/01/08/gen-mccrystal-applies-for-job-as-new-homeland-security-secretary/

“I spent a career carrying typically either an M16 or an M4 Carbine. An M4 Carbine fires a .223 caliber round which is 5.56 mm at about 3000 feet per second. When it hits a human body, the effects are devastating. It’s designed for that,” McChrystal explained. “That’s what our soldiers ought to carry. I personally don’t think there’s any need for that kind of weaponry on the streets and particularly around the schools in America.”

*****

The villification of the "poodle shooter" in citizens hands takes a new direction,....he should do well as DHS Sec. IF Big Sis agrees.

Far cry from Patton, or Pershing that ENCOURAGED the civilian population to know how to shoot.

We are so being played...f'ed with no flowers, no KY, no reach around, NOTHING.... >:(

Am I disenfranchised yet?  ???

To think I once thought he'd make a good spokesman for us, extending his reach into the JSOC alumni and the army at large. Damn, was I wrong. They got Petraeus by the balls and now McChrystal. Who's left, Barney Fife?

Do you think 90 years of communist subversion ignored the military ?
Officers are college grads, colleges are nothing but indoctrination centers.
The comment has been made that I see communists under every rock.
Lets go with naming names Alger Hiss, Ezra Pound, and Van Jones.
Just those 3 cover 80 years.

Maybe McChrystal should talk to this guy.

I did not go to the link, but I'll point out that while the military has issues with .223 not getting the job done, civilians are not limited to FMJ the way the military is .

And just what do you think you are going to be stripping off of the corpses of the UN Peacekeepers?   :o

Tom, McChrystal maybe a scum-sucking pig for attempting to score big in government after retirement, but he is not a communist. And he is not the only military officer to sell out his beliefs for the big bucks at the end of the rainbow. Almost all retired military officers do the same thing. Even though I feel betrayed by his recent stance on gun control, I don't think he is now or ever has been a dirty stinkin' communist. I agree with the three names you put up, however. I just don't believe that everyone else but you is a communist!

Likely to be .223.  Carry a .308 and you get nothing for it.  Carry an AR and you have something.

Solus, doesn't that depend on which country or countries provide the U.N. peacekeepers? Don't they usually carry their own service issue weapons. I don't seem to find a standard service issue rifle for the U.N. When I look at the standard arms for many countries, I see a good many using the 7.62x51mm. Admittedly, more do use the 5.56 and sometimes both. And, if they want to deny pickups by indigenous militia, they may use neither! I wouldn't count on U.N. peacekeepers for a source of anything!

You are correct.   I was thinking .223 was standard...it is for NATO....just not for UN.

I was thinking more along the lines of what civilians would choose, personally I would choose any .30 cal over a super .22.

There you are wrong, they may not be card carrying party members but a huge proportion of retired officers support socialist ideas.
Why wouldn't they, it's what they know best.
From the time they begin active duty their every need is supplied by the tax payer, even things like food, and uniforms for which they have to pay something , the money comes from their tax payer supplied paycheck.
Every decision is made for them, even what to wear is specified under the "Plan of the day".
When they retire they vote for more of the same .

Any one who thinks we will have foreign "UN troops" in America is a fool .
When we do not supply the troops we supply financing to pay them, transportation to and from and often the equipment they use.
The people who will oppress you will be our own cops and troops,  reinforced by new recruits who will come from among your neighbors and acquaintances .
