I was wondering if any of the members out there have to deal with ignorant relatives making the dumbest remarks about gun controll.
I was raised in CT near Newtown and most of my family still resides in the state or surrounding metropolitan area. I occasionally share somthings on my FB page from the NRA or National Gun Rights Association. The comments I get are beyond belief, I respond to their responses intelligently and back them up with facts. Some times I just ignore them all together. I Love them dearly but if it comes down to it I don't think I could defend them from their own ignorance till they begged for assistance. I also find it odd that on one side the whole family is ultra conservative and on the other it is only the first born males.

As a first born male, with a 4 year younger sister, (who is a card carrying member of the teachers union and a BHO supporter), I calmly attempt to present numerous precedents and facts to her emotional off the wall MSM talking points. To no avail.
Often I think yelling at a bowling ball would be more productive.

Why do need so many?
What good is that one for?
You don't even really go hunting.
Don't you have enough ammo yet?
When is enough enough?
That one just scares me.
I get the whole enchilada with my darling little sister.... :-\

We can pick our friends, but we can't pick our relatives - including in-laws :-\
My side of the family is neutral to pro Second Amendment and freedoms. There are a few liberals, but they are a strange blend of beliefs. I often tell them they are more conservative than the know or want to know.
The in-laws are a different story! Wife's sister and brother and all they hang with bleed blue. The daughter-in-law as well. However, at a family supper while visiting Kansas s-i-l's husband said "we are stuck with this idiot Bush and the damage he will do unless someone kills him" and s-i-l said "we can only pray for that" Later that evening back at son and d-i-l's house d-i-l said you looked like you swallowed your pickle at supper. I stated very clearly that you never wish for the unlawful killing of a President, especially when he is doing nothing illegal or unConstitutional. My point was well taken. At the s-i-l's family visit to our home later that year the two of them started going after things I feel strong about, and I did not bite my tongue or swallow my pickle. I let them have it! The next day when they hoped for help from f-i-l, he made me proud by wearing the apron he had bought for his woodworking that was camo with a bullseye and the words "Kill It and Grill It!" He knew what he was saying, and so did everyone else.
Hang in there! I feel your pain :'(

Do I really need to explain where I come down on politics ? ;D
My older half brother thinks the sun rises and sets in Obama's ass .
My younger sister was a vegan at 16, went to school for 30 years for her PhD.
Last year she got her Texas CCW . ;D

My sister is VP of her local teachers union. Worked less than 180 days last year. Made 65K. She once told me that people who have should give it to those that don't. I recently told her that she makes 20K more than me and she needed to give me half. I was told she works to hard for her money to be giving it away. Really, she did.
FWIW, she lives in the house we grew up in cause 'Daddy' gave it to her. My house is paid off by my own sweat. She's in her second bankruptcy. Wants me to 'give' her one of my pistols cause she 'needs' protection. I said KMAGYOYO!

Sounds about right. I hate people like that.

I don't bother with liberal relatives and their sheepish ideas and they don't try to convert me. They live in a much different world then we do and there are so many of them I have little hope for our future.

TW, I thought yow wuz me for a second there, except my sis is just 3 years younger.
Lifetime member (retired last year) of the Teacher's Union, pro Odamna, married to a libtard retired Navy captain who is retiring this month from Boeing this month. To give them credit, they contribute to many charities, go into Mexico a few time each year to help build houses for poor people, and are generous to friends and relatives.
Neither one of 'em can understand why I would want so many ugly guns that shoot so many bullets.
They really think banning all guns would be a good thing.
Actual facts will not dissuade them from their conviction.
They are simply typical of the "it makes me feel good--it doesn't matter if it is wrong" mentality.
Talking with sis is like hitting myself in the head with a hammer. It feels so good when I stop.

Love and tolerances my friends. My big Sis works at an inner city school as an aid, is a part of the teachers union and has an amazing array of very imaginative ideas regarding life and how society conducts itself. Once in a heated debate about firearms she said she would never let one cross her door step, when I informed her that I had been carrying one since 21 she banned me from bringing my guns in her house. All I did was show her kindness, and I stopped visiting. After a while she gave up and has actually listened to what I had to say. I don't think she would let a gun reside in her residence but she isn't preaching about gun control anymore. When it comes to friends and family I care for I follow one simple edict.

Sooner or later they'll listen.

My sister who is older than I am and very conservative in all other matters does not want me to even mention guns to her.

One of my best buds was a union boy and when we got back from Iraq he did not have a job. Obama’s war on coal here in Ohio. Well he now sings a different tune and is freaking out about what is going on. He sounds like James Yeager some times.

My Father was union back in the 70's, when the economy went to crap about 1980 he was laid off before some that had less time on the job. When he went to the union rep they told him they could get his job back, but they would fire him for something else so he should just draw unemployment. Needless to say, he never joined another union.

My mother was the lone conservative of nearly a dozen brothers and sisters back in the 60s. (Had a can of "Goldwater" on the shelf in the office). She was one of those "Women in a mans world of business" kind of folks. At 22, she was the chief chemist at the Goodyear plant here in town. (She blew up the lab and got fired..) She spend 32 of her first 40 years of life in school, plus 6 of the next ten, had two Master's, four BA's, two (different from the Master's) Ph.D and a slew of certificates, an honorary Doctorate from South America somewhere, even a honorarium from Harvard.. Offered the first seat offered to a woman on the Securities and Exchange Commission. She worked the whole time..
Just,... everything.. She got blackballed from local society here in 70s (all Democrat) Alabama because she was a member of JBS..
She fell a long way.. Before she died in 94, she was a Clinton Democrat.. Sometimes I think it was drug and alcohol toxicity.. I know it can alter your mind. I didn't know it could "change" it..
My, how things can change!! ???
