Title: Ruger- Take Action
Post by: PegLeg45 on January 12, 2013, 01:13:48 PM
There are a lot of folks out there who write letters and emails to legislators, but some want to but may not because they might not know exactly what they want to say.

There is a link on another thread with a 'one-click' option to send a copy of your letter to all parties concerned, but you still have to compose the body of the text.

Ruger has taken it on step farther. They have a simple form letter, and all anyone needs to do is fill in the personal particulars and click 'send' and a copy will go to all legislators, state and Federal, that apply to you based on your zip code.....as well as AG, VP, and PotUS.

EXCELLENT !!!

Thank you for posting this link and a big 'Thank You' to Ruger for providing the service.  The message is simple, concise, and gets the point across in a respectful manner.  There's even a counter to show how many have taken action: http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/ (http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/).

Great sentiment, but don't do it!

Use it for a template, and write your own.  These types of emails or pre-printed post cards are dismissed by politicians.  Their staff will tell them they got X cards from a certain place, but a single phone call, person email or personal letter from a voter out weights a thousand of these.

Go ahead and do it.....just don't ONLY do this.

Do all the rest m58 suggests also.

Extra and Overkill won't hurt here.

I'm a little dismayed that ALL of the recipients of mine are (D)s, although our local State Senator and I talk quite often and he's tried to get expanded CCW and revoking the ballistic fingerprinting law.

Thank you for giving us this link.

I've writen different letters to my reps and senators, but also sent this one to all listed so that I reach politicians I didn't think to and to add to the mountain of dissent on this attack of our rights.

M 58 again shows his lack of thought, while he is correct in saying to contact them on your own, but it is stupid to think that 19000 contacts from just one manufacturer in the last 6 hours will be ignored.

See what I mean, 44000 in seven hours from just one source will not be ignored.

71017  I've written and emailed on matters other than gun control to show that I'm more than a single issue voter.  Maybe not this time around though.

Tom,

Go ahead and do it if you want, but every politician I have talked to said it is nothing but spam to them.

77,000 + spams might not do much in the short game, but it might lead to a larger percentage that ordinarily would not write at all to take the next step and get more involved at a deeper level.
Sometimes all it takes is a small, seemingly inconsequential, first step to motivate folks into doing more.

The first time I ever wrote a legislator was through a similar standard form letter like this years ago. After that, the gate opened and I have maintained a continuous flow of both emails and mailed letters over a period of years.

I have not seen the email they sent, but it is possible to put in the persons email address as the "from" address.

Don't know if that violates anything, but it can be done.

So....   They might be getting those emails from that many individuals.
