I have a rule of thumb for that, using a feather is kinky, using a duck is sick . ;D

Just be sure to handcuff folks with their hands behind their backs and with the key hole fasting away from the hand.
Not likely they will be able to get undone, even if they have the key in their hands.
If you are limber enough, it is possible to get your butt and legs through the cuffed arms so the cuffs are in front, and you can try using the key in your teeth...but still not an easy job

Simplest method is to not get cuffed .
Years ago a guy I worked with was messing around with a set of hand cuffs THEN found out the owner had lost the key.
He went to Rochester PD but they ragged on him so he panicked and took off .
Finally got them hack sawed .
Best part was until he produced the owner to back up his story they charged him with escape and destruction of city property, they picked him up as he came out of the shop at lunch time in front of every body.

The key for handcuffs isn't 'keyed'. The ones I've seen can be undone with the proverbial bent bobby pin.

I have seen necklace crosses that were handcuff keys.
