The problem today is the mags will cost you more than the rifle!.........If you can find them.

I had all of mine shredded so they could be recycled into solar powered "green" cars.

Accepts AR magazines.

I know we all have (or had in the case of some boating accidents) plenty of AR magazines.

I think this is where Ruger erred on the Scout Rifle.   It should have been designed either around the M1A1 mag or the AR-10 mag.

Now if Mossberg will come out with a .308 version

Very good.

No missing insurance claim for the tragic boating accident.
No missing police report for the untimely theft
No missing entry on your income tax for the obscene profits you made.

Rather, you might be able to swing a tax write off for investing in a "green' initiative.  Even more when it goes bankrupt.  ;D ;D

I bet they leave the .308 field to Ruger - now if it came in .300 BLK ...

Heard it in both Ed's video and in the Guns America interview.  .308 is coming.

I've been looking for a 308. I think I'll wait on this one to come out.

Did he say what mags?

Neither interview I watched said which mags for the .308.   The .223 of course uses AR-15 mags.

They could go a couple of ways.

1)  They could use M1A1 mags.
2)  They could use Ruger Scout mags
3)  Or maybe, FNAL or FNAR

Doubt they'd come up with a proprietary design.  (At least hoping they don't)

I'm betting on #1

There is a forum dedicated to the MVP platform:

http://mossbergmvp.com/index.php?forums/mossberg-mvp-forum.2/ (http://mossbergmvp.com/index.php?forums/mossberg-mvp-forum.2/)

In the .223 a few after market mags evidently have some trouble with retention and feeding but most standard brands seem to work well.

My local shop orders in February for the guns it wants for the most of the year, I think I will go down and see if I can get them to order the 308 for its release date. I may get lucky and receive one this summer. :D

Reading the MVP forum which had a link to Davidson's.   Seems like the .223 AND the .308 are already in their database, but probably not shipping yet.

The .308 is listed as accepting AR-15 mags, which of course can't be since the .308 is too long to go in those magazines.  So the guess on the MVP forum is that it's a typo and they meant AR-10.

Here's the listing for the threaded barrel one.

The .223 is out.  I've seen them at 2 different shops.

I ordered and paid for mine today.  MVP Patrol in .223.  Took a while for the gun clerk to write it up because it's not in the store's database and it's not on Mossberg's web site.  But it is in Davidson's database.   $579 before sales tax.   The gunny said it is probably an allocated item, meaning they can only get them when a customer places an order.

Now Adventure Outdoors has always used attractive ladies at the registers, and being the sexist I am have never really "talked" guns with them.  (I usually have other things on my mind at that point.)   Today, the check-out clerk looked at the order and said, "Oh wow, the bolt action rifle that takes AR mags."  We had a nice chat about what's right and wrong with the MVP and the Ruger Scout.   So now I've added "What do you think of the MVP rifle" to my pickup lines.  I'm sure it would work with Marshalette.  ;D

HMMmmm....

I wonder how easy it would be to swap the barrel in say-300 BO?
