Title: 40% of sales don't get background check?

I've wondered about this statistic ever since they started using it. Yesterday I heard a interview with John Lott. He said it's from a 1993 handgun inc. poll. And of those 40% over 90% of those were inter family or inheritance transfers! Why are the pro gun groups not making this and the other false statements their talking points? I just think if the truth was out there people would listen.

MOST people don't listen for the truth and verify the facts for themselves. They listen for what they want to hear and then blindly agree. This is a big part of the reason for the rise of the communist progressives. The dumbing down, and indoctrination of America.

Problem with the conservatives getting the truth out is that those whose function it is to publicize the truth are, for the most part, working for the other side.

Surely during some of the few interviews they do give on the main stream media you would think they could get at least a few true facts out. I guess all the lies are just starting to piss me off.

They have editors to weed out too much truth.

Background checks are a waste of resources, if you can't pass one you buy a stolen gun. I bought two handguns at the last gun show I attended, one was a cash sale and the other was a new one from a dealer. One included a check and the other didn't and both were legal.

If there is no check, and no paper work how do they know how many there are ?

Here is a link to the actual 'National Institute of Justice' study written up in 1997 analyzing the 1994 telephone survey.  Pay particular attention to Exhibit 5 on page 6.  In the 'Percentage for All Guns' column, the 40% figure comes from adding together the last 5 categories.  Page 4 discusses the survey's methodology and points out weaknesses in their own study.
