They knew the Delano house far too well. It was where Christian Philip Oberender, then 14 years old, had murdered his mother in a shotgun ambush in the family rec room in 1995.

How did Christian Oberender succeed in obtaining a gun permit?

The answer lies in a combination of deceit on his part, failures in the state court system, and haphazard data collection by state agencies, according to interviews with law enforcement officials.

The system is broken so badly that it won't catch a murder, and they think that more laws and bans will help.

Where's the animation of the dude pounding his head on the wall  >:(

The guy that shot the Firemen in NY had beat his mother to death with a hammer .
It must be the fault of guns that these nuts are loose instead of properly jailed .

I'm sure he said he was sorry.

That makes it all better doesn't it?

That's the problem. They murder and get a few tears in a mental hospital, then back on the the street for the rest of us to deal with. Or they go to prison for 30 years, only have to serve part of it. Then get released back into the real world. Drawing public aid because they can't get a job, or don't want one, continue to prey on honest citizens and now they want to take our right to defend ourselves away. We need to bring back the death penalty! These thugs have nothing to fear from the justice system. They get sent away to spend time with their homies, learning how to prey on us. When they get caught some prosecuter drops almost all of the charges so they won't have to do the job they are paid to do. Cut a deal with the perp, give them half the time they should get. Now is the time to bring back public hanging and give the criminals a reason to fear the repercutions of there actions.

In response to Mr. Baker's comments, Vice-President Biden said, "And to your point, Mr. Baker, regarding the lack of prosecutions on lying on Form 4473s, we simply don't have the time or manpower to prosecute everybody who lies on a form, that checks a wrong box, that answers a question inaccurately."  That's right:  Biden said the administration just doesn't have time to prosecute crimes (felonies punishable by up to a 10-year prison sentence) under existing laws, but is proposing a host of sweeping new laws.

There was a case in Cincinnati where a guy killed someone, was deemed mentally unable to know he did wrong, so, after some treatment, was released again.

He killed again with the same outcome....well, he was going to be put back on the street...The coverage of the case went away so I don't know if he actually was.

My thinking at the time was that if this man could kill at any time because of his mental condition...I don't think he was psychotic, just deficient...that was like leaving a rabid dog loose....anyone he gets near would be wise to shoot him.
