Dear Jason:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It is good to hear from you.
As a fifth generation Wyoming rancher, I know firsthand the importance of the Second Amendment to our way of life in Wyoming. Firearms are important for self-defense, recreation or business, as is the case for Wyoming’s ranchers. Our Founding Fathers believed so strongly in our right to own and use firearms that they made it part of our Bill of Rights. I will work to preserve the fundamental, constitutional, individual right of law-abiding citizens to own and use firearms. All too often, this right is under attack in Washington by those who do not fully understand its importance in the rural west.
The senseless shootings in Aurora, CO and Newtown, CT have led to an increased push for gun control. As a mother, I can barely imagine the horror and tragedy experienced by the parents of the Newtown victims. But restricting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiders won’t solve the problem.
I joined several other Republican Members of Congress in sending a letter to President Obama declaring our support for the Second Amendment and opposition to any bans on firearms or ammunition, whether through legislation or Executive Order. We sent this letter in response to the President’s call for resurrecting the ban on semi-automatic weapons and banning magazines larger than ten rounds. The President also announced 23 Executive Orders to advance his gun-control policy. Our letter to the President stresses the need to fight criminals, not turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals with draconian gun control measures.
Some of the Executive Orders may sound acceptable at first glance, such as those that purport to make the laws we already have on the books more effective. But the Executive Branch will have the power to unilaterally fill in the details, so we have to be vigilant in tracking how these orders are implemented and whether they affect the constitutional rights of citizens. As a Member of the House Second Amendment Task Force, I am actively engaged in protecting gun owners from misguided gun control effects. As we work to better enforce existing gun laws and make our streets and schools safe, we cannot in the process disarm law-abiding citizens, undermining their safety and constitutional rights.
I am also attempting to help pass legislation to advance Second Amendment rights for gun owners. In the last Congress, I cosponsored H.R. 822, the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act. Introduced by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), this measure would establish a national reciprocity standard under which concealed weapon permit holders in one state could also carry a concealed weapon in other states that issue concealed carry permits.
Also in the 112th Congress, I authored H.R. 615, the Collectible Firearms Protection Act. This legislation would overturn the U.S. Department of State’s decision to block the importation of American-made M1 Garand rifles and M1 carbines from South Korea. The State Department had previously approved the sale of these items in the United States, but decided to reverse its decision during President Obama’s tenure as President.
The State Department does not have the authority to deny legal firearms to law-abiding citizens. These firearms are popular with collectors and recreational shooters, are unquestionably legal, and their importation is already regulated by the Justice Department. In fact, the Reagan Administration approved a similar sale from South Korea in the 1980’s. This is not about diplomacy or foreign policy—this is a domestic issue and a Second Amendment issue. While H.R. 615 expired at the end of the 112th Congress, I will continue working to reverse the State Department’s unwarranted stonewalling of this legitimate firearms transaction.
Thank you again for taking the time to write to me. I value your input. If you haven’t done so already, I would like to encourage you to visit my website at www.lummis.house.gov. There you can sign up to receive my newsletter, and have access to a wealth of other information. I won’t flood your email box, but I will provide you with updates once in a while about activities in Washington that affect our lives in Wyoming. I hope you will sign up so that we can stay in close touch, and I look forward to seeing you in Wyoming.
Sincerely,
Cynthia M. Lummis
Member of Congress

Gee, what a surprise, she's a Republican .
Is she interested in moving to NH ?
-
Not if I have anything to say about it.
Fact is she is still new. (She was just re-elected for her second term) She hasn't been there long enough to be swallowed by the Washington trap. Enzi is a RINO, and Barrasso is wavering. Lummis is the only solid representation we have right now.

Got another one:
Dear Jason,
Thank you for contacting me regarding federal gun control issues. It is good to hear from you.
In the wake of the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, a dynamic policy discussion on what we as a nation can do to stop senseless violence in our schools and in our communities has emerged. It is clear that as we lend support to the families of the victims, we also need to examine the root causes of devastating events like this. I believe it is important to make certain we know what causes the perpetrators to act and that solutions can be found in our families, culture, medicine, and faith.
On January 16, 2013, President Obama released his plan for gun control based on the recommendations of a gun violence task force, which was led by Vice President Joe Biden. The plan has four main pillars: background checks, assault weapon and high-capacity magazine bans, school safety, and mental health services. While President Obama invoked executive authority in issuing four Presidential Memoranda related to his plan, the directives do not impose a ban on semi-automatic assault weapons or high-capacity ammunition feeding devices.
As a life-long supporter of the Second Amendment, I remain staunchly opposed to the implementation of new gun control measures. The law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen in Wyoming must not have their constitutional right to bear arms impeded upon. I do not believe it is appropriate for gun control advocates to exploit this tragedy to further their anti-Second Amendment agenda.
Everyone agrees that this country must take steps to control violent crime, but I believe we can keep America safe while protecting our constitutional freedoms. Please know that I will oppose any proposed measure in the Senate that attempts to take away or severely limit this constitutional right and the values and way of life we hold dear in Wyoming.
Once again, Jason, thanks for sharing your thoughtful comments with me. I value your input.
John Barrasso, M.D.
United States Senator

This came from my Congressman...
Dear Majer,
Thank you for contacting me regarding federal gun control policy. It is good to hear from you.
As you know, on December 14, 2012, an unimaginable and horrific tragedy occurred when an armed gunman broke into and fired upon children and adults at the Sandyhook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 27 before turning the firearm on himself. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their friends, families, and loved ones. We must come together to pursue efforts to prevent such heinous acts in the future, especially enforcing laws that we have on our books which could have prevented this massacre.
In the aftermath of these events, several lawmakers as well as President Obama called for legislation or other government action to thwart or prevent such tragedies in the future. For example, Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) introduced an assault weapons ban proposal and President Obama announced the formation of a task force to study solutions to gun violence headed by Vice President Joe Biden. I do not support Sen. Feinstein's bill and would vote against it if considered by the House.
As a former soldier, it pains me to see our citizens affected by gun violence on our own streets, schools and other public places. I believe there is an emerging consensus on the need for more robust support and treatment options for mental illnesses that are often the cause of these horrific tragedies. The husband of a social worker, I know firsthand the positive impact and necessity of mental health treatment.
Taking guns away from law abiding individuals is not going to solve the problem. We must gauge how well we are doing now in keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill while respecting the rights of law abiding citizens.
The Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights provides that "a well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." This is a fundamental American right and should be preserved.
Moving forward, I will judge any proposal based on how effective it will be in preventing future tragedies and improving public safety, as well as closely studying its constitutionality.
Thank you, again, for contacting me with your thoughts. Please don't hesitate to inform me of your concerns in the future through my website http://gibson.house.gov/.
Sincerely,
(signed)
Chris Gibson
Member of Congress

Alas, mine is Steny Hoyer so you know how THAT email went. >:(
I sent back this:
Thank you very much for your response to my email. I am a member of a 1000 strong shooting club, one of at least a dozen that I can think of in MD. Our members each know at least two non-member shooters and they each know at least one more, I'm sure the numbers are similar at the other clubs. Your sponsorship of the outright attack on our Constitutional Rights means you do not represent us and we will be more than happy to find another person to better represent us when you are up for re-election soon.
The proposed legislation by Senator Feinstein, President Obama, and MD's Governor O'Malley will not decrease violence or protect anyone. Magazine and "assault weapons" bans failed in 94 and will fail again. "Universal background checks" are not going to work either. The firearms being used in crimes were never checked, a large percentage of them are STOLEN. NO background check will stop a criminal from getting a weapon, whether it's a gun, knife, or brick. Be a better steward of our tax dollars and spend the half BILLION earmarked for gun control on JOBS, not taking my Constitutional Right away.
Mikulski, Cardin, et al will get the same when I get thier response to the first email.

For now. Both of our senators started out this way, but once they are in Washington for a couple of terms, they go RINO. I feel Enzi is a lost cause, and I have been absolutely furious with Barrasso over the last month. First he votes for the fiscal cliff deal, then softballs the Hildabeast, then votes to give Egypt planes and tanks. Not pleased with my senators. >:(

Got this from my Congresswoman.
The Second Amendment
What actions should be taken to create safer communities? Fill out a quick survey HERE.
Dear Friends,
In January President Obama unveiled his gun-control policy. He called on Congress to resurrect and expand the Clinton-era ban on semi-automatic rifles, including a ban on magazines larger than ten rounds.
The President also announced 23 Executive Orders to help advance his gun control agenda. Some of the Executive Orders may sound acceptable at first glance. But the Executive Branch will have the power to unilaterally fill in the details, so we have to be vigilant in tracking how these orders are implemented and whether they affect the constitutional rights of citizens.
As a mother, I can’t begin to imagine the horror and tragedy experienced by the parents of the victims in the Newton, CT shooting. This and other senseless acts of violence, including what happened right in our backyard recently in Aurora, CO are concerning to everyone. But restricting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiders won’t solve the problem.
I took an oath to defend the Constitution and this includes the Second Amendment. That is why I joined several other Members of Congress in sending a letter to President Obama declaring our opposition to firearm and ammunition bans or other gun control measures, whether through legislation or Executive Order. To read the full letter sent to the President click HERE.
This is a serious issue. Actions taken in the heat of an emotionally-charged moment will nonetheless have long-lasting consequences. That’s why, if you have a minute, I’d love to get your take on this contentious issue. What actions should be taken to create safer communities? Click HERE to take the quick survey.
For those interested in reading the President’s proposed 23 Executive Orders click HERE.
Sincerely,
U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis
The survey question was: What should be done to curb gun violence.
I chose "other"
My written response:
Universal, National, Unrestricted Concealed Carry.
