And they are soliciting questions.
Biden to take gun questions from Field & Stream
Vice President Joe Biden will sit down on Thursday for an interview with Field & Stream magazine to discuss the White House’s proposals to fight gun violence. And that outlet is giving readers a, um, shot at proposing questions.
“Do you have a question for the Obama administration about guns? Now's your chance to get it answered!” reads the magazine's call for participants. “Any question is valid, as long as it pertains to guns.”
Questions are welcome at: askbiden@fieldandstream.com
Only those that come in with a name, address and daytime contact information will be considered.
The interview may be taking place on Valentine’s Day, but don’t expect too much love for the administration on the issue of guns. One of Field & Stream’s self-described "Gun Nut" columnists wondered last Friday whether the photo of President Barack Obama firing a shotgun at Camp David might have been Photoshopped. (Read the whole rant, a broadside at politicians and guns.)
Biden has been Obama's point person on the issue of guns in the aftermath of the slaughter of schoolchildren in Newtown, Conn., in December. The president is expected to push a package of proposals—banning assault weapons, limiting ammunition clips to 10 rounds or less, tightening background checks on would-be gun buyers, improving mental health services—in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday.
In late January, Biden described and defended some of those ideas in a Google+ "Fireside Hangout," in which he also prescribed shotguns as the best firearms for home defense.

I never did like that magazine.
My question would be "Have you ever actually READ the Constitution you're crapping on ?"

It's been years since I had a subscription.......too many Fudds.
I do like Dave Petzal, mentioned above, from the Gun Nuts section and the OC TV show of the same name.
I went back and read the mentioned article of his.....pretty good.

Nobody Here But Us Shooters
By David E. Petzal
In the annals of grotesquerie, one of the prime sources of amusement is career politicians attempting to convince people that what is not, is. My favorite example in recent years was Senator John McCain (whom I don’t think has been quite sane for a while) standing in a bazaar in Baghdad while the war in Iraq was in full flower, assuring the Folks Back Home that it was perfectly safe to go shopping here. At the time, he was wearing a flak vest and surrounded by heavily armed security guards.
One of the favorite dodges of politicians and journalists is to allow that they, too, are shooters and gun owners, even if they have straight F ratings from the NRA or have defamed the NRA and its members in at least one column a week. Joe Biden has admitted that he has a Beretta over/under, and that he has no fear someone will try to take it away from him. Governor Andrew Cuomo, just prior to his screaming fit about guns during his State of the State Address, allowed that he has a Remington pump shotgun, and if that’s good enough for him to hunt with, why would anyone need an assault weapon and high-capacity magazines?
John Kerry humiliated himself by showing up at a trap range and revealing that he had no idea how the sport worked, or how to hold a shotgun. Sarah Palin, who made herself out as a hell of a shooter, was taped trying to gun down a caribou, which she missed repeatedly, and had to have her guide yank the rifle away from her because she didn’t know how to operate it. Hillary Clinton, during her disastrous presidential run, allowed that she was the veritable reincarnation of Annie Oakley as a kid, and if she hadn’t discovered politics, who knows what might have come of it?
Political columnists do it, too. They will tell you that they grew up on a farm, and lived with guns, and that they got a gun for Christmas one year, and that they are gun owners and shooters. What they don’t bother to mention is that they got the hell away from the farm just as fast as they possibly could and have not picked up a firearm in the 30 years since and would like to see you do without your guns.
Most recent on the list of covert gun users is President Obama, golfer, basketball player and, if we can believe the press releases, skeet shooter. There is even a photo of the Pres shooting a skeet gun, or maybe it’s Photoshop. The gun appears to be a Browning Citori, which I’m sure thrills the hell out of Browning. There’s no evidence, however, that aside from this one shot, he has actually completed a round of skeet. Also, whose gun is it? His? Does he have a permit for it?
I’m not convinced.
Also, someone should tell him to get his elbows up, and that you don’t “do skeet shooting,” you shoot skeet.

I feel the same. All this is going to be is yet another chance for the Democrats to correlate guns and the Second Amendment with "sportsmen" and "hunting". More nothing. Isn't this the same magazine that employed Jim Zumbo?.........."We don't need these terrorist rifles!"

Does the magazine know and understand the substance and depth of the debate they are entering?
I have not subscribed for many years, but I do pick an issue up every now and then. Many gun articles I read show little understanding of the fact that it does not matter how we label our firearms, because the actions are the same and cross all political arenas. I can not think of Field and Stream entering the Second Amendment debate without visualizing a big photo of Jim Zumbo on the front cover.

And a caption about how " You've got to be vewy vewy quite when you hunt wabbits".

Gun Nuts is on my DVR record list.
Good show but I wonder why you have NEVER seen an AR, either 15 or 10, reviewed or even shot. Dave P. gives some reviews on various bolt guns and Phil B. covers the shotguns very well. I wonder if Dave even knows that a lot of folks hunt big game with semiauto 308s.
I just watch the show for the shooting tips....you won't find any coverage of Modern Sporting Rifles.

I found a lot of Trapshooters over the years who were ignorant of the gun issue. Many were critical of the NRA for not "compromising". They failed to understand the fact, that every time the gun lobby "compromises" with the anti's, we have to give up something, and they get something. Then the process starts all over. They don't get the fact it's all give on our part, and all take on theirs. Pretty soon we'll have nothing left to give, and they'll have it all. So many gun owners are stupid in that regard. Just owning a firearm doesn't give you common sense.

+1
Our number one enemy is not the Brady Campaign. Our number one enemy is many of the sportsman clubs and shooting ranges within our midst. These are the Fudds who claim to be the "gun culture" and say we have no need or reason for many firearms, that the Second Amendment is all about hunting, and that we need to accept "reasonable" and compromise.
