Is DHS being turned into Obama's "civilian military force" ?
YES !
-
I wonder if DHS "troopers" take an oath?
And, if so, is it similar to that taken by Armed Forces/Police personnel?
Update: Found this link
I should have written you sooner, but I am DHS and consider myself an Oath Keeper. I go to work wearing what I have only half-jokingly called The Evil Eagle of DHS. I took an oath to defend our Constitution and shall do so. There were a few looks when I added emphasis to the words and domestic!

DHS Officers all take the same sworn oath. It's the same as the armed forces. It does include the words .. "..... and domestic". I also consider myself an Oath Keeper.
-
Retired Major I know, (Flaming Ivy league liberal ) made a comment last night about gun control .
My reply was "You took an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution, it had no expiration date. Do your damned job."

I took a "Pledge Of Allegience" as a civilian, and adhere to it to this day,....but than again I AM ALSO A MEMBER OF THE MILITIA our Founders wanted.
http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/rkba/ff_militia.htm
Richard Henry Lee: “A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.” (Additional letters from the Federal Farmer, at 169, 1788)
Alexander Hamilton: “…that standing army can never be formidable (threatening) to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in the use of arms.” (Federalist Paper #29)
President James Madison: “…to support the Constitution, which is the cement of the Union, as well in its limitations as in its authorities; to respect the rights and authorities reserved to the States and to the people as equally incorporated with and essential to the success of the general system;… to keep within the requisite limits a standing military force, always remembering that an armed and trained militia is the firmest bulwark of republics – that without standing armies their liberty can never be in danger, nor with large ones safe;…” – President James Madison, First Inaugural address, Saturday, March 4, 1809.
James Madison: “A WELL REGULATED militia, composed of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country.” (1st Annals of Congress, at 434, June 8th 1789.
James Madison: “As the greatest danger to liberty is from large standing armies, it is best to prevent them by an effectual provision for a good militia.” (notes of debates in the 1787 Federal Convention)
George Mason: “I ask you sir, who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people.” (Elliott, Debates, 425-426)

Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.
Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.
The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).
Why would DHS need such over-the-top vehicles on U.S. streets to withstand IEDs and mine blasts?
There are rails along the perimeter windows/gun ports to help displace the impact of RPG rounds… seems a bit much for a Police/Rescue vehicle…
They all have gun ports… Rescue vehicle?
Seriously, why would DHS need such a vehicle on our streets? What are they expecting or preparing for? It is a ridiculous over-the-top display of force that is meant to intimidate and associate the DHS name and logo with ‘FEAR’. Just like all that’s happening with the TSA (under the wing of DHS), this is about normalization of a new way of American life.
By the way, you’re the one who paid for these. Or better said… your grand-kids will pay for these since we are living on a negative balance sheet with a 16 Trillion dollar deficit.
I am curious to know if any of our MSB readers have seen any of these vehicles? Send photos and encounters if you have them…
George Washington once said, “Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.”

Know your enemy; know yourself. Wonder how many incendiary tear gas grenades they have?

These aren't the droids your looking for... move along.
There was no fire.

The father of one of the girls on my daughter’s soccer team works for DHS out of a local military base. Our kids our friends, but outside of the normal small talk we never had any in-depth discussions, that is until this past weekend at a soccer tournament. (Yes some brilliant person scheduled a soccer tournament for March 2nd; it was 33 degrees with a lot of wind. You do have to wonder about some people.) I knew where he worked, and that his kids were very restricted on the Internet and cell phones, like no Facebook for the kids because of what he does and the possibility of threats.
While at McDonalds in between games I was seated next to him, when he went to the bathroom his jacket raised exposing his handgun, extra mag and badge. When he returned I asked him about his preferred carry gun, he said they issued a Sig .40 but he preferred a .45. We continued talking guns and some about the recent craziness. We both totally agreed that it’s a people problem and not a gun problem, education and personal responsibility. We had many of the same views on a lot of issues, (To keep it in perspective, we both pay to send our kids to a religious school and I was sporting my NRA gear.) Things went well and I even got an invite to bring the kids to his range as a guest and maybe join.
What really stuck me was that he recently moved his family to a remote location, is a prepper and like me is looking for an old pickup truck with no electronics that can be converted to run on wood.
Time ran short but needless to say that when the next opportunity presents itself I do a more questions for him on his views of many things.
Considering the current state of our nation, and the possibilities of what may come, building a relationship kind of makes me nervous, even though I am a law abiding gun owning citizen, ( It’s really sad that our country has come to this.) but at this stage caution should be exercised.
What do you guys think? Too cautious or use caution?
-
Use caution .
Because of where he works he probably has little chance, other than maybe at the range, to interact with "normal" people .
Something to think about, he has access to better info than a bunch of guys watching the news and comparing notes, and HE has become a "prepper", and moved to a remote location .
-
I would use extreme caution with this person. It is quite probable that if he isn't the kind of person you think it is quite possible that he has already run your name thru the system to find out any info on you that is out there.
-
Thanks for confirming my view, however the more I think about it; the more it upsets me that we even need to think about it at all. I respect law enforcement, and to have to worry about such a thing really illustrates how those with power have removed “United We Stand” and are working the “Divide and Conquer” angle perfectly by a masterful use of propaganda on each and every person regardless of their political beliefs.

I’d be willing to bet that he already ran the names of everyone associated with his kids at school as well as sports a long time ago.

Well, can't lay to much blame there. If anyone of us had that access we might checkout anyone who might be interacting with our kids.

Side note - and Yes he most likely already did.
As a hobby I modify some online game code so groups of players can run "customized" maps on local servers (not accessible to everyone on the inter-webs) and got in with a group of guys in Dallas.
Come to find out - every single one of them were U.S. Air Marshals, U.S. Marshals, Boarder Patrol, ATF, ICE - and almost to a man - each and everyone of them "checked me out" before they allowed me in to their game servers to alter the game code.
Turned out to be great guys, but very very very testosterone fueled, and honestly, I could not drink enough RedBull to live at their speed.
I still keep in touch now and then, but they honesty hold a grudge and took offense at me leaving and working with others.
But to answer the original question, with out a doubt - after the initial contact.... he already knows as much about you as you know about you.

Hi;
JP1, maybe he wants to take you out to Hunters and Anglers. I think he is probing you to see if you are some nut that he has to avoid. Also, exposing his firearm may have been a little ego trip for him.
regardless, You may want to check out the American Preppers Network, then enter the PA section - under general discussions - look at the comments on why we need guns. You will see my posts "uncle 1" and decide for yourself.
After reading, sonme of the other posts/sections there, I have come to the belief that some sites are/have been set up to "probe" the average unsuspecting person thoughts and intentions as a gauge for Govt reactions.
But then, I could be just overreacting.
