I picked up a new contract in Raleigh for the next 5 to 6 months. I'll be there leaving Minneapolis on Sunday evenings and coming back on Thursdays. North Carolina recognizes Minnesota carry permits so I plan on taking a carry gun. Is there anything I need to be aware of to carry in NC? Any advice in air travel with a handgun?

Air travel:
Hard case with a padlock for handgun;
Ammunition in factory box;
Both of above in your suitcase;
Check TSA website;
Check Airline website (oddly, these vary);
Declare at check in, and obey.
FYI
Our wonderful local airport has a smaller limit on ammunition than TSA. Same weight limit, but have as many rounds.
While your at it, check your carry on bags for spare ammunition! The strip search isn't too bad, but the cavity prob search sucks :o
I carried in Charlotte last fall, and it went well. They have some things we aren't used to but easy to deal with.

Be careful about going into South Carolina, from what I could find they do not recognize any other state's CCW nor can you obtain one as an out of state resident. And I was warned about going into parts of SW North Carolina in general, something about being white ;D

Magoo is correct.
You do not live in a state where you could have a resident permit South Carolina recognizes.

I think SC passed legislation last year to potentially correct this situation.....BUT, after the law passed, no one in the AG's office has moved to implement the proper measures to add other states...... so basically, they still have no reciprocity.

This site should help. NC is pretty even-keeled, but you cannot carry concealed at a funeral. :P Yes, I'm serious.
