I wonder if this is all designed as the next "crises" that will be a form of gun control in and of itself.
When I lived in Charlotte, I went to Hyatt Gun Shop many times. Larry (the owner), is a good guy.

Ammo Prices Have Doubled Since December At 'America's Largest Gun Shop'

The price of his store's ammunition has more than doubled since mid-December, says Larry Hyatt, owner of Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte, N.C., which bills itself "America's Largest Gun Shop."
I spoke to Mr. Hyatt today about the increase in the price of ammunition since mid-December (when the gun control debate began to heat up). Hyatt said that the ammo market is "very volatile" and that he "doesn't know when the next shipment will be."
His best seller right now is .22LR caliber. Gun owners like to shoot this caliber because it is typically a cheaper round and also optimal for target shooting, known as "plinking"
A box containing 500 rounds of .22LR was selling for approximately $20/box back in December. Today, Mr. Hyatt tells me he is selling the same box for $49. This represents a 145 percent increase in price.
We "immediately started rationing" as there are "a lot of unknowns for deliveries of products," Hyatt said.
The 5.56 caliber, used in the "assault rifle," was selling for $0.50 a round in mid-December. Today this caliber sells for $1.00/round; a 100 percent increase in price.
Mr. Hyatt also said that 50 rounds of 9mm were selling for $10.99 - but, they're now priced at $24.00 per box. This represents an increase of 118 percent.
Hyatt says the talk around his shop these days is that, next week, it'll cut the number of rounds allowed per purchase in half - and the week after that, they'll just show their customers a picture of a box of ammo.
Hyatt Gun's is located in Charlotte, N.C. and is known as "America's Largest Gun Shop."

What surprises me about this latest shortage is .22 ammo. The last time shotgun and .22 ammo wasn't an issue but this time .22 seems to be the hottest commodity.
I don't think it is by design but it shore is playing into the anti's hands.

This is not a people stocking up for a possible ban.
It's a population gearing up for war.

No joke.
I don't have nearly enough on hand for something like that.

I saw an ad in the local paper, some dood selling 550-round boxes of Federal .22lr - 2 boxes for $90! I was flabbergasted. Guess it's the going rate after all. In that case, I'm a freaking millionaire!!! ;D
And, yeah, I agree, it ain't looking good. We've discussed here over the past few years whether or not .gov was intentionally pushing the people of these United States to do something stupid, like revolt. Seems to me the pressure has been upped.

I guess I have it good. I'm still finding Federal .223 for 50 cents a round and 9mm for $24 for the Winchester white box around here. Price isn't the issue, though. Finding it in stock is where the trouble is.
If we ever had a war against a bunch of ducks and geese, I'd be your go-to guy for ammo.

You and me both. I have so many boxes of #4 and #2 3" steel that I bought when a big box was closing its doors, that it isn't even funny. Of course, inside of 25 yards, they'll ruin your whole day. ;D
