Title: This years NRA ballot..
Post by: santahog on March 03, 2013, 09:06:11 AM
We all already know a little more about Jackson, but what about the rest of the "lesser knowns"?
Does anybody have any information backing up an opinion on any of the names on the ballot this time?
Does anybody just have an opinion on any of them??
Before we all vote, any information would be helpful..

I am way behind on my reading, but my April American Rifleman is on my desk.

All ballots must be received by April 14, 2013, so we have 30 days to get them in the mail to assure counting!

We can vote for 25 of 29

     YES                                                               NO
15 - Oliver North                                                    14 - H. Joaquin Jackson
19 - Sandra S. Froman
20 - Ted Nugent

For the YES column, the only one I can truly vouch for, except for Uncle Ted, is Joel Friedman.  He was part of the coalition that elected Charlton Heston President of the NRA which helped to get the association on track.  He has a long track record of fighting for our 2nd Amendment rights, and as a Californian, he understands the consequences well.  IMO, he's the point man in the current lead ammo fight in our state.

Jim Scoutten suggested via FB, (very indirectly) that he wasn't voting for Ollie North, saying that his public image wasn't what he wanted for the NRA. I swear though, I have no idea what he means by that...  ???

Funny, Ollie and Jim have about the same public image...

Except one is a Marine, served our county and served our greatest President.  The other is a TV actor.

Probably because Ollie broke his oath to the US Constitution when he knowingly conspired to violate the Boland Ammendment. Now granted it was a stupid bill, but it was the law of the land and Congress does have the sole right to declare war. Ollie ignored that and followed unlawful orders, which he knew to be unlawful, then further disgraced himself by taking the Fifth in uniform before the US Senate. Sorry, but I have lost all respect for that guy beyond the service he did as a combat Marine. No one will dispute that, but I don't want him representing me either. Not looking for a fight, but he screwed up twice on the things that matter most. First his oath to the Constitution, then the principle of civilian control of the military. And frankly, isn't that what we're afraid of? Officers putting political loyalties (in this case to BO) ahead of their oaths? Two different animals to be sure, but the principle is the same. If Congress passes a Constitutional law, you obey, even if you think its idiotic. You don't get to freelance because of your political opinions.

Ask Dick Cheney. I heard he never turned in the keys to the "undisclosed location". ;D

Cheney won't do you any good.
The "Secret hidden bunker" is in Larimer County, Co. according to MB's last blog post .
The "undisclosed location" of the VP is the Washington Naval Observatory where they cage Biden.
