Got myself a new torch the other day and thought I would do a little review and unbox.
I compare it to one of my other torches a Solarforce l2 with a Pro 1 head.
Damn these things are bright, the Pro 1 will illuminate about 300 yards useful light at night for shooting with a scope, havent tried the M8 yet but it looks like it will do the same with a bit more useful light.
Here is my little review.

I wonder if I was the only one who opened this thread expecting to see something about a welding torch? I momentarily forget the Aussie/UK use of the word.
As someone addicted to "lights" both personally and professionally (part of my job lighting director), I don't need this. I already had a dozen in each room. You can't sit down anywhere, including in the loo, without having one in reach. Miss Kitty has forced me to seek help ("Hi, I'm Alf and I'm addicted to flashlights.) so the number has come down to a manageable half-dozen or so. Now you've gone and tempted me. Curse you Sledge.

Damnit sledge you do this to me every time. I was just getting comfy with el cheapo ultra fires, then you bring this up. But here's the thing, I am a flashlight slut. So, what's the damage on this thing? It looks great. I'd say I need one but I'd be lying. I just want one yeah? Please post the details.

Sorry FQ
The price atm is 64.99 US + shipping. (http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=LF&s=26&id=561)
All up it cost me about 70.00 US or 25.00 Australian......... Kidding :-)
They are on special atm normally 89.00US
As I mentioned I really wish I got the s1100 so I could blind the neighbours cats and watch them run out in front of cars, but I think this one will do the same if I use the strobe function muaahhh
Which reminds me I must make a post about my home made paintball gun...it makes white cats blue!

I'm still stuck on the Surefire 6p series. I think I'm up to 5? now. Let's see, one in the truck, one in the nightstand, one on the evil black rifle. Oh yea, one in the BoB, so 4 I guess. Started carrying a 5.11 in my pocket since it's much lower profile and has a belt clip. Until I started carrying them regularly, I never new how much I would use them. My average is at least 6 times a week.

Here's a post I made to another board about the ultrafires. I stand by it.
Update on the ultra fires. I've had these things for months now. They are awesome. Zero problems. I find myself reaching for my $10 ultrafire over my $40 Streamlight when I go to check out a noise in the night. I mean this literally as they live side by side in my nightstand next to the glock. I bought the thing on a whim thinking "Hey, its ten bucks, what do you have to lose"? Now, I'm wondering what you'd have to be smoking to spring $150 plus for a surefire unless you are mounting it on a weapon. For a pocket flashlight it is darn bright (better than 2 D cell mag light with an LED bulb), reliable, and the price is right. I will not be tempted by high end mini mag size lights again. For a tenth the price I'm getting the same performance. This boys, is a money saver that works. For thirty bucks you get two good quality lights, a charger and two 18650s. What's not to love?

First of all. Rule number 1: NEVER PAY RETAIL FOR ANYTHING. Shop around and wait for deals. Out of my 5 lights I never spend more than $40, and 2 were gifts. Second, look at warranties. I won't buy anything that I consider "vital" equipment without a LIFETIME warranty. Generally if a manufacturer is confident enough in their product to stand behind it virtually forever, I'm probably not going to have a problem with it. Ultrafire is 180 DAYS. Third, if this is their "official" website http://www.ultrafire-shop.net/ I'm not impressed.

Interesting video review. I just got done upgrading my pocket light after weeks of reading reviews and watching videos. I doubt that I will ever make a video, but I'll be glad to share after it arrives.
Here is what I settled on.

if you are still using an incandescent Surefire, and not familiar with Solar Force (HK), they have module upgrades for around $12USD... I have a couple of the 320 lumen and one mongo 800 lumen... they don't have the heat sink of a Malkoff but are 1/5 the price... you can put together a pretty nice high intensity light for under $30.... a $12 module with one of their bodies like the $12 L2M shown , and $5 worth of CR123s....takes a couple of weeks to get here from Hong Kong...
